Overview
This is the day 3-5 iteration of the Nature Archon plant Blood Mage, and the changes are almost entirely defensive. The creator took the league-start version into Expedition — currently among the harder content in the game once rune stacking, rare monster modifiers and map modifiers compound — built a spreadsheet of everything that killed or annoyed him there, and then bought counters for each entry one at a time.
The result is a character layered like an onion: chill, freeze, electrocute, ignite, bleed and corrupt blood immunity all covered simultaneously, leaving the player free to focus on kiting and damage rather than reacting to ailments. The creator is explicit that this does not make the build invincible — ignoring map modifiers or over-juicing will still get you killed — but that fully juiced Expedition becomes comfortable rather than punishing.
Offensively the core is unchanged: a staff modifier grants Nature Archon when plants overgrow, and the Dominion anoint removes the buff’s recovery period so it can be held permanently, with the 50% reduced-effect penalty bought back on the belt and tree. What has improved is uptime. Watering once and then simply spamming Entangle now sustains Archon indefinitely, pushing the buff duration from around 1 second to 11 and turning the build into a genuine one-button mapper. For single target, Sigil of Power plus three stacked Thrashing Vines instances produced 11-12 million damage in the showcase with no further input.
Pros & Cons
Pros
- Immunity stack covers chill, freeze, electrocute, ignite, bleed and corrupt blood at once — very few ailments left to play around
- Nature Archon uptime is effectively permanent, reducing the rotation to a single skill in maps
- Bodark helmet chills and freezes on the build’s own physical damage, converting offence into a defensive layer
- Maligaro’s Virtuosity caps crit damage bonus, freeing a meaningful number of passive points
- 100% critical chance means every Entangle and Thrashing Vines hit pins
Cons
- Gear-gated: Bodark, Dream Fragments, Maligaro’s and a crafted GG staff are all assumed
- Not a fresh-league setup — this is the upgrade path after the league-start version is already running
- Over-juiced content is still lethal if map modifiers are ignored
- Chaos resistance capping is patched together across belt and runes and remains a work in progress in the video
Key Skills
- Entangle — clear and the Archon sustain button; a single water then continuous spam holds the buff
- Thrashing Vines — single target, three simultaneous instances under Archon
- Thunderstorm — the initial watering cast that starts the Archon chain
- Sigil of Power — 30-second boss window that fronts the single-target burst
- Accelerated Growth — blinds on hit, which pairs with the helmet’s blind interaction
Gear & Anointments
The Dominion anoint and a staff with chance to gain Nature Archon when your plants overgrow remain mandatory. The upgrades layered on top of the starter version are:
- Bodark helmet — physical damage from plants chills and freezes; enemies in presence are blinded. Augmented so blinded enemies deal no critical damage bonus for 4 seconds
- Dream Fragments — chill and freeze immunity, which also protects movement speed against chilled ground and map mods
- Maligaro’s Virtuosity — caps critical damage bonus at 250, so gearing targets crit chance only
- Chest — energy shield, resistances, and a rune reducing curse effect by 50%
- Boots — 40% movement speed plus a rune for increased skill effect duration with plant skills
- Belt — increased effect of Archon buff to offset Dominion, plus chaos resistance
- Jikwana’s Soul Core from Trial of Chaos adds a cheap +1 to all plant skills
On the tree the changes are faster energy shield recharge (down to 2.7 seconds), the node that halves shock effect and grants electrocute immunity, corrupt blood immunity, and the movement speed and elemental resistance bonuses tied to holding Archon.
Endgame Notes
The stated target is fully juiced Expedition with all rune stacking, which the creator uses as a stress test rather than a farming strategy. Planned additions include Rite of Passage with a wolf for movement speed, skill speed and armour break, and Legacy of Ashrend for ignite immunity.
