Overview
This is a top-end showcase of the armour-stacking Cast on Comet Infernalist, retooled around a pure cold theme. Where the original build leaned on Spark, this variant swaps in Frostbolt as the primary skill to break away from a saturated meta while keeping the same defensive core: Pyromantic Pact for effectively infinite mana, a huge stacked armour pool, and a healthy layer of ward on top. The result is an extremely tanky character that can stand in ground effects during the hardest content and simply ignore mechanics while everything on screen dies.
The damage engine pairs Frostbolt with Cast on Comet. On its own Frostbolt is underwhelming because its projectiles pierce and pass through packs, so the setup forces the projectiles to stop and explode on contact instead. A Snake Pit-style ring effect (projectiles cannot pierce, plus a fork) makes each bolt detonate its AoE explosion on the first target and split into more explosions across a pack. In high-density content like Expedition, the layered explosions arguably clear as well as or better than the Spark version, though single-target is a touch weaker.
The creator frames this as an update video rather than a fresh build, highlighting alternative options and a piece of shared tech rather than walking every slot. Treat it as a menu of upgrades for players already running the armour-stacking Infernalist.
Pros & Cons
Pros
- Exceptionally tanky: stacked armour plus ward lets you face-tank ground effects and ignore most mechanics
- Frostbolt explosions give strong, satisfying AoE clear that rivals the Spark variant in dense content
- Frostbolt does not depend on infusions for its damage, easing the reliance on infusion generation
- Permanent freeze and chill immunity via Elemental Archon uptime
- Cold-into-fire infusion conversion feeds extra fire-infused Comets for a big damage boost
Cons
- A genuine top-end setup: the showcase runs two Mage Blood belts and expensive gear, so it is not budget-friendly
- Single-target damage is a little weaker than the Spark version
- Relies on a Law Weave (or Snake Pit) with hard-to-find mod combinations to make Frostbolt behave
- Leans on a weapon-set snapshot bug that is expected to be patched by the next event league
Key Skills
- Frostbolt — primary cold spell; forced to explode on contact rather than pierce for AoE clear
- Cast on Comet — automated Comet drops fed by fire infusions converted from cold
- Frost Darts (Spellslinger) — single-target and secondary AoE with Wild Shards
- Orb of Storms — generates cold infusions for Frost Darts via Elemental Equilibrium (optional)
- Asenath’s Wolf / Spellslinger (weapon-set snapshot) — free damage reduction and utility carried over from the unusable second weapon set
Gear & Anointments
The defensive shell is built on armour stacking with a large ward layer, using Pyromantic Pact for mana. The body armour of choice is a Law Weave rolled with the Snake Pit modifiers (projectiles cannot pierce and fork) alongside the sought-after cannot be chilled or frozen line; a Brass Dome (pure armour or runic-ward) is a valid alternative, but then a Megalomaniac with Embodiment of Frost is needed to keep freeze and chill immunity. A Flesh Crucible with Eldritch Battery converts energy shield to mana to reduce self-damage from Grinning Emotion and Pyromantic Pact, and a less-max-life roll trims it further. Rune choices matter: Hedge Witch and Rune of Hollowing (both limit-one runes) are used to make the second weapon set unusable so its granted skills snapshot into weapon set one.
- Body: Law Weave with Snake Pit mods + cannot be chilled/frozen (or Brass Dome + Embodiment of Frost)
- Rings: Snake Pit effect for the pierce/fork behaviour; ring slots otherwise valued for resistances and item rarity
- Focus: cold-damage focus in place of the lightning one
- Gloves: high-armour crafted gloves with Iron Reflexes + Lever Bound gauntlets to double glove armour
- Belt: Mage Blood (a Quicksilver-base Mage Blood is swapped in for travel/movement speed)
- Runes: Rune of the Prism for flat resistances that does not override the Law Weave max-res; limit-one runes to enable the weapon-set snapshot
Specific unique items and exact rolls should be confirmed against the source video.
Endgame Notes
This is squarely an endgame farming setup, tuned for Expedition and the juiciest top-end content where the armour and ward let you ignore mechanics. Players can shift stats between armour and runic ward on the helmet and amulet depending on their armour ceiling. Morgan’s Insight can supply a periodic guard buff roughly every 8 seconds, which with enough stacked armour keeps guard up close to permanently and reduces reliance on the aura flask. Note the weapon-set snapshot is a bug and may not survive to a future league.
