Overview
Scattering Calamity is a staff-granted lightning spell that drops from Colossus, and this build turns it into a hold-one-button mapping engine on a Titan. The spell costs zero mana, which is the hinge the whole setup swings on: with Mind over Matter routing damage into the mana pool and Eldritch Battery converting energy shield into mana, mana becomes the effective hit pool and can be spent freely because the main skill never touches it. Mana Remnants overflow that pool by roughly 1.5x on top, so the character sits at a far larger buffer than the raw number on the sheet suggests.
Titan is not the obvious host for a caster, but two ascendancy nodes make it work. Hulking Form amplifies the effect of small passives, which pushes the tree’s skill-effect-duration reductions far enough to bring Scattering Calamity down to roughly 0.1 seconds — effectively instant — while saving a stack of passive points that would otherwise be spent on redundant duration nodes. Crushing Impact turns every hit into a crushing blow, so the build stuns constantly, and constant stuns feed Remnants of Kalgur. Between stun-generated and crit/ailment-generated remnants, picking them up detonates a second layer of explosions on top of the projectile spread.
The defensive plan is the part the creator is most emphatic about. Stacking block chance around Svalinn — where block is lucky, i.e. rolled twice — sits at roughly 79% block on the showcased character, and across fully juiced 200% Delirium maps with triple Abyss tablets the mana pool reportedly never dropped below its meta cap. The creator, who has played armour, evasion, life and energy-shield characters, calls lucky block the strongest defensive layer they have run.
Pros & Cons
Pros
- One-button playstyle for mapping — hold right-click, with Mana Tempest as the only real second input
- Zero mana cost on the main skill, so the mana hit pool is never spent on casting
- Lucky block via Svalinn is an exceptionally strong survivability layer; the showcase holds up in 200% Delirium with triple Abyss tablets
- Double remnant generation (stun + crit/shock) layers explosions on top of the base projectiles
- Strong single target as well as AoE, with Mana Tempest nearly doubling damage on bosses
Cons
- Depends on a staff that drops from Colossus, plus Svalinn — this is not a fresh-league starting point
- Relies on a weapon-set interaction (see below) that the creator expects may be patched; the fallback staff-only setup is noticeably weaker
- Gear-hungry to reach its ceiling: max-mana amulet and ring rolls, maximum-mana sockets, and jewels rolled purely for crit are all wanted
- The low-life Pain Attunement package adds spirit-reservation complexity and a Series Communion gem that is expensive to acquire
Key Skills
- Scattering Calamity — the entire mapping engine; zero-cost lightning projectiles that spread and detonate remnants
- Mana Tempest — boss-phase damage buff, nearly doubling output; the 4-second lingering window lets you keep it near-permanent
- Arc — triggered on critical hit, shocks with added magnitude and is empowered by the build’s infusions
- Blasphemy + Temporal Chains — an extra defensive layer that also feeds the low-life reservation needed for Pain Attunement
Gear & Anointments
The wand-and-shield configuration is the core of the setup. Slotting Hedge Witch and Azcapa’s Rune of Wisdom (+1 to all spell levels) into both the staff and the wand, then entering a new area, leaves Scattering Calamity usable on the wand-and-shield weapon set — the creator flags this as a likely bug and expects a patch, with the pure-staff variant as the fallback. Svalinn is mandatory for the lucky-block defence. On the wand, the ideal rolls are added lightning and added cold damage with critical chance and cast speed. The amulet and ring both want maximum mana and increased maximum mana percentage, plus spirit on the amulet; the creator specifically calls out a mana-scaling ring as the upgrade they were missing. Jewels are simple — maximum energy shield, critical chance, critical damage, nothing else.
On the tree, the build takes Eldritch Battery (mana cost doubled is irrelevant when the skill is free), Mind over Matter, Arcane Intensity for max-mana spell scaling, and the reduced-duration small passives amplified by Hulking Form. Pain Attunement is reached by reserving life through Blasphemy Communion plus a level-one Cannibalism, and the creator notes a cheaper double-curse route via Whispers of Doom. Life Tap is linked to Mana Tempest and to Arc so life, not the mana hit pool, pays for them.
Endgame Notes
The showcase is run in fully juiced 200% Delirium maps with triple Abyss tablets carrying extra monster and extra modifier rolls, and the character holds full effective HP throughout. The creator suggests Warbringer as an alternate ascendancy to explore, on the grounds it can reach roughly 94% maximum block chance.
