Overview

This quarterstaff Invoker revolves around power charges: Flicker Strike and Falling Thunder both consume them, and the more charges you hold, the harder each hit lands. Living Lightning and Reaper’s Invocation keep charges flowing, and a large crit package keeps hits near the crit cap.

The headline experiment pushes the character to 12 maximum power charges using Grip of Cormac, Kaom’s Ring and a +2 power charge helmet. A 12-charge Falling Thunder hits extremely hard and Flicker Strike chains for a long time — at the cost of wrecking resistances. The day-to-day setup sits lower, around 10 charges, with roughly 60% chance not to remove consumed charges stacked from boots, body armour and Perpetual Charge.

Because the Invoker ascendancy ignores enemy elemental resistance on crits, Rakiata’s Flow is pointless here. The creator was level 88 with ~4,500 ES, ~1,400 life and 49% evasion, and still treats the build as a work in progress.

Pros & Cons

Pros

  • Falling Thunder scales enormously with charge count
  • Reaper’s Invocation is a manual trigger, so charges can be banked before a boss
  • No spirit needed from the amulet thanks to Invoker
  • Energy shield + evasion hybrid with good recovery options

Cons

  • The 12-charge setup trashes resistances and is more of a showcase than a daily setup
  • +2 power charge helmets cost around 10 divine; good quarterstaffs get expensive fast
  • Heavy crit and charge bookkeeping — high complexity
  • Still being tuned; jewel and gem slots are in flux

Key Skills

  • Falling Thunder — main boss hit, scales with power charges and combo
  • Flicker Strike — mobile single target that consumes charges
  • Whirling Assault — current clear and combo builder (may later swap to Shattering Palm)
  • Living Lightning / Reaper’s Invocation — generate power charges
  • Herald of Thunder, Herald of Ash, Wind Dancer, Charge Regulation — clear, overkill damage, evasion and charge buffs

Gear & Anointments

  • Weapon: quarterstaff with + melee/elemental skill levels, attack speed and crit
  • Helmet: +2 maximum power charges (corruption can push it further)
  • Boots: movement speed, ES and chance not to remove power charges
  • Showcase pieces: Grip of Cormac and Kaom’s Ring for the 12-charge version
  • Rings: flat damage, mana leech, resistances
  • Anoint: Lust for Power for an extra power charge
