Overview

Ice Shot / Snipe Deadeye is the creator’s 0.5 league starter built around a proven Ranger pattern they have iterated on every league. The shell uses Ice Shot for all-purpose freezing clear, Snipe’s frozen-target Icy Blast for surgical boss damage, and Mirage Dead Eye for a clone that mirrors your channelled skills — including Snipe in 0.5, which opens the door to double-Snipe bossing setups.

The build needs essentially no uniques to reach T15 maps. Ice Shot received a meaningless freeze-buildup nerf the build never specced into anyway, Snipe took a tiny campaign damage trim while gaining endgame projectile-level scaling, and Hyrri’s body armor lost a small slice of evasion but remains best-in-slot. The net 0.5 effect is a small buff to the build’s late-game ceiling thanks to Mirage clones now using channelled skills.

Pros & Cons

Pros

  • Genuinely no-unique-required to clear T15 maps — every key item is either rare or easily-affordable
  • Snipe’s Icy Blast on frozen targets delivers absurd single-target burst, especially through Barrage repeats
  • Mirage Dead Eye in 0.5 finally uses channelled skills, multiplying your effective Snipe casts
  • Crescendo + Splinter + Reversing on Kadiro’s Gambit creates massive return-overlapping clear without crit gear
  • Mature build with 15+ guide iterations across leagues — extremely well-mapped progression

Cons

  • Snipe’s channel timing on bosses is awkward; Mirage offload is the recommended workaround
  • Requires 3 weapon-set / mark tech (Freezing Mark + Charged Mark + shock-magnitude offhand) for full endgame value
  • Late-game minmax with Garacons + crit conversion adds significant skill-tree respecs and complexity
  • Ghost Dance change to cooldown-based defense adds another stat (cooldown recovery) to chase

Key Skills

  • Ice Shot — main clear; converts all physical to cold and stacks freeze trivially
  • Snipe + Icy Blast — boss damage from frozen targets, repeated via Barrage point-blank shotgunning
  • Lightning Arrow + Lightning Rod — pre-31 leveling skeleton (Chain 2 on Lightning Arrow procs 8 rods per shot)
  • Freezing Salvo — extra freeze-buildup option if Ice Shot ever struggles to lock down a boss
  • Freezing Mark + Tunnel Mark + Charged Mark — bossing tech that combines damage taken, mark persistence, and free shock-from-freeze
  • Mirage Dead Eye — clone that now mimics Snipe, doubling your effective single-target output

Gear & Anointments

Hyrri’s Demand body armor is the recommended best-in-slot — even after the 0.5 evasion trim it still nets ~2k effective evasion when not hit recently, and the extra-cold + freeze-duration mods are too good to drop for a higher-evasion rare. Kadiro’s Gambit is the quiver of choice for the early-to-mid endgame: Crescendo + Splinter + Reversing + Diamond + Covetous turns Ice Shot into a return-arrow chain explosion machine. Late-game shifts to a crit bow + crit-stacked gear to exploit Garacon’s Resolve, which doubles your crit damage bonus when both rolls of the doubled crit-chance check succeed. Other key supports: Ice Bite 2 in Ice Shot/Freezing Salvo for 30% extra cold on freeze, Concentrated Area on the freeze setup, and Katal’s Rejuvenation from Mana Remnants (via spirit gem) to solve mana sustain and stack cooldown for Mirage + Ghost Dance.

Endgame Notes

The full endgame minmax stacks shock magnitude in a weapon-set-two configuration via Unbound Forces + Frazzled to get ~50% shock multiplier on bosses — a damage layer the creator wasn’t using in last league’s footage, meaning all those nuke clips were already missing this multiplier. The hardest screen-clear tech layers Heart of the Well (extra chaos), Armor Explosion (physical to fire), Nutall’s Embrace (chaos-to-armor-break conversion) and Urax’s Smelting (broken armor takes more physical) on top of Herald of Ice explosions for cascading screen-wide chains. A Path of Building file and Maxroll planner are promised alongside the launch.
