Overview

This build turns the Gemling Legionnaire into a rage-stacking Falling Thunder machine that flies across the map and slams down lightning while never spending a power charge. The whole engine rests on gem quality: by pushing Falling Thunder and its support gems to very high quality, the character reaches a 100% chance to not consume power charges, so every slam keeps its charges and stays fully powered. Rage is the second half of the equation — the more rage you hold, the more damage and attack speed you gain, which is why the tree, jewels, and idols all funnel into maximum rage and rage effect.

Movement is handled by Whirling Slash on a dedicated weapon swap, letting you spin through packs and apply a Blasphemy-linked curse while Falling Thunder on the second weapon set does the killing. It is very much an endgame mapping build built for speed and screen-clearing rather than a fresh-league starter.

The creator is upfront that this is a budgeted take on Palsteron’s original — roughly 500-600 divines in — so it is a goal to build toward, not a day-one setup.

Pros & Cons

Pros

  • Explosive map clear — fly around and delete entire packs with Falling Thunder
  • 100% chance to keep power charges means uninterrupted, mana-free casting
  • Rage stacking scales both damage and movement/attack speed together
  • Comfortable on heavily juiced content (shown running 200% Delirium)

Cons

  • Expensive — the budget version still costs several hundred divines
  • High complexity: weapon swaps, gem-quality thresholds, charge and rage management
  • Chaos Inoculation means you rely on flat life-regen-per-second to offset rage draining your one life point
  • Ramp-up time each map while you build charges before you can go full speed

Key Skills

  • Falling Thunder — main lightning slam, pushed to high quality with perpetual charge, Nova projectiles and ricochet
  • Whirling Slash — movement and curse application via Blasphemy (deals no damage by design)
  • Herald of Thunder / Herald of Ice — clear and shatter support on the Falling Thunder weapon set
  • Berserk — grants extra maximum rage and increased rage effect
  • Blasphemy + Repulsion — auto-applies a curse to amplify damage on cursed enemies

Gear & Anointments

The core is a weapon-swap setup: a spear/quarterstaff tuned for attack speed and added lightning on the Falling Thunder set, plus a mover weapon carrying Whirling Slash. Key pieces are a helmet with maximum power charges and “spell damage also applies to attacks”, and an amulet with the allocated Paragon anoint plus the desecrated “quality of all skills” modifier (rolled via the Omen of the Blackblooded / Kirac mod) to hit the charge-retention threshold. The Fox Idol and Idol of Aerimor add bonded quality and charge-consumption tech. A megalomaniac with Thermaturgic Generator is mandatory to generate charges since the Paragon anoint occupies the amulet.

Endgame Notes

This is an endgame mapping specialist — it thrives on high-density, heavily-juiced maps and can push into deep Delirium. Chest and rings are the cheap slots (flat energy shield plus resistances); the amulet, helmet, and weapons are where the currency goes.
