Overview
This Monk turns power charges into screen-wide clear and single-target burst. Whirling Assault is the engine: it clears packs, crits often, and a Cast on Critical setup fires a low-level Profane Ritual that eats corpses and returns power charges. Those charges go into Charged Staff for a large lightning damage buff, then into Flicker Strike or Falling Thunder to wipe whatever is left. Herald of Thunder and Herald of Ice add chain explosions on top.
Falling Thunder with Nova Projectiles now clears a full 360-degree circle without a big damage penalty. That makes it the safer mapping spender, while Flicker Strike shines on bosses and open layouts. For bosses, power charges come from Mantra of Destruction with Ailith’s Chimes instead of corpses. Build 20 combo with Whirling Assault, spend it, recharge Charged Staff, mark the target and finish with Flicker Strike.
Defensively it runs Chaos Inoculation on an energy shield / evasion / deflection base with Wind Dancer and Ghost Dance. A fully built version sits around 6.5k ES, 75% evasion and 70% deflection. The creator is clear that this is a high-investment build, not a cheap starter.
Pros & Cons
Pros
- Very fast clear through Whirling Assault, Heralds and 360-degree Falling Thunder
- One-shot boss potential once charges, Charged Staff and the Mantra loop line up
- Chaos Inoculation removes chaos damage as an ES weakness
- An instant life flask with Chayula’s belt refills ES on demand
Cons
- Expensive: the creator calls it high investment
- Needs roughly 60% crit before Cast on Critical feels smooth
- Several buttons and a charge loop to manage, especially on bosses
- The weapon choice is strict: a zero-crit quarterstaff wrecks damage
Key Skills
- Whirling Assault — main mapping skill and the start of the power charge chain
- Flicker Strike — boss and open-map spender with Perpetual Charge for long chains
- Falling Thunder — full-circle clear spender with Nova Projectiles
- Charged Staff — the main damage buff, which also applies blind
- Mantra of Destruction — boss-only charge source with Ailith’s Chimes; keep it at 0% quality so 20 combo gives 5 charges
Gear & Anointments
- Weapon: a high cold-DPS quarterstaff with + melee skills, crit chance, crit damage and attack speed. Avoid the Dreaming Quarterstaff base because of its 0% crit
- Helmet: high ES (350–450+) to feed Subterfuge Mask evasion
- Body: an ES / evasion hybrid, with deflection if possible
- Belt: Chayula’s belt with an instant life flask
- Amulet: anoint Tribal Fury
- Ascendancy order: Way of the Stonefist → Martial Adept → Martial Master → Hollow Focus technique
Endgame Notes
Take Chaos Inoculation once you reach about 4,000 ES. Past that point gear can focus on rarity, damage and resistances. The creator keeps the build link updated weekly in the video description.
