Overview
Spirit Walker pairs a straightforward spear attacker with tamed beast companions, and this guide covers the whole run from Act 1 to the interlude. The attack core is Whirling Slash building stages into Twister — Whirling Slash grows a whirlwind that slows and blinds, and firing Twister converts those stages into multiple bouncing tornadoes. It is a two-button rotation that works from the first skill gem onward.
What separates this from a plain Twister leveller is the companion layer. Tame Beast unlocks at the Act 2 ascendancy around level 21, and the guide treats companions as upgradeable slots rather than a fixed pick: Wrath Breaker is captured first by re-instancing the Vestiri Outskirts, then dropped for Mighty Silverfist in Act 3 when the real power spike arrives. Trusted Kinship allows a second companion of a different type, which costs reservation on everything else but pays for itself in aura value and damage.
The single most repeated piece of advice is weapon uptime. Runes of Aldur makes campaign crafting cheap, so every spear that drops should be picked up and evaluated. The creator’s Act 3 and 4 weapon was an ordinary crafted Cross Blade Spear that carried through to the interlude without difficulty.
Pros & Cons
Pros
- Two-button rotation that is readable from level one, with no combo timing to learn
- Companions provide free auras, damage and a body to soak hits without any gear cost
- Entirely self-found — crafting on picked-up spears is the whole gearing plan
- Roughly six to seven hours campaign clear for a player already comfortable with ARPGs
- A written version of the route is provided alongside the video
Cons
- Aura hunting on companions is a slot-machine; a good Haste roll can take many area reloads
- Damage collapses if the spear falls behind, so pickup discipline is mandatory
- The guide ends at the interlude and does not cover endgame scaling
- The Sceptre-versus-parry decision in Act 3 is left to the player with no clear recommendation
Key Skills
- Whirling Slash — stage builder, slows and blinds in a growing area
- Twister — the damage payoff that consumes those stages
- Fangs of Frost — early added cold damage, picked up in Act 1
- Tame Beast — the companion capture gem, unlocked at the Act 2 ascendancy
- Wild Protector — bear spirit granted at the Temple of Chaos, a large mid-campaign damage add
Gear & Anointments
The spear progression runs Hardwood, Ironwood, Hunting Spear, Wing Spear in Act 1 and 2, then War Spear late in Act 2, then Cross Blade, Sea Glass and Sword Spear in Act 4, and finally Branch and Jagged Spear in the interlude. Craft each pickup rather than saving currency, and check vendor bases when drops go dry.
War Banner is the aura pick from King of the Mist around level 11. Companion support is bought with the ascendancy: Companion Life in Area and the Natural Aura for capturing, then Shared Companion Damage at the Temple of Chaos. Choose Drop of Stone in the Venom Crypts for stun threshold, resistances at the Eye of Hinokora, and the armour / evasion / energy shield pillar at Quaima. Specific uniques are not part of this build — it is designed around rares and campaign crafts.
