Overview
Bone Cage Bonestorm Lich is a control-first occult caster that turns crowd management into damage. Bone Cage pins enemies where you want them, opening safe windows to unload Bonestorm into targets that can no longer close the gap. The build’s identity is deliberate spacing: nothing about it rewards diving into a pack, and everything about it rewards setting the terms of the fight before it starts.
Damage arrives in two layers. Bonestorm is the direct, focused-pressure skill used on rares, elites and bosses, while a Cast on Critical engine built around Bone Cage adds burst once critical chance is consistent enough to keep the trigger firing. The build feels tactical rather than explosive until that crit setup comes online, at which point the burst windows get considerably more violent.
Support skills round out the package rather than decorate it. Consecrated Ground, Sigil of Power and Convalescence exist to keep long fights survivable and casting uptime high, which matters for a character whose entire defensive plan is preventing enemies from ever arriving.
Pros & Cons
Pros
- Bone Cage gives genuine crowd control, not just damage — you dictate enemy positioning
- Strong single-target burst on rares, elites and bosses once Cast on Critical is consistent
- Safe ranged playstyle with no face-tanking requirement
- Deep utility layer via Consecrated Ground, Sigil of Power and Convalescence
- Scales exceptionally well with crit, spell damage, cast speed and cooldown recovery
Cons
- Needs meaningful setup before it feels smooth — crit chance, cast speed and cooldown recovery are all gating stats
- Clear speed is admittedly not top-tier; the creator calls out that it is not the fastest mapper
- Rewards good Bone Cage placement and punishes lazy positioning
- Early league feels noticeably weaker until the trigger engine is assembled
Key Skills
- Bone Cage — primary control tool and the Cast on Critical trigger; supported with Spell Cascade, Pinpoint Critical, Rapid Casting II, Extraction and Execute III
- Bonestorm — main focused-damage skill for tough targets; Rapid Casting II, Pinpoint Critical, Zenith II and Extraction
- Cast on Critical — burst engine linking Bone Cage, Pinpoint Critical, Execute III, Spell Cascade and Boundless Energy II
- Sigil of Power — stronger casting windows and area coverage during hard fights
- Convalescence — recovery layer that keeps extended fights stable
Gear & Anointments
Stat priority is spell damage, occult damage, critical chance, critical damage, cast speed, cooldown recovery, energy sustain and defensive layers. Critical chance carries outsized weight here because Cast on Critical only feels good when crits are reliable, and cast speed smooths both Bone Cage and Bonestorm noticeably. Cooldown recovery is the third pillar, keeping the utility skills available across longer boss encounters. The creator does not name specific uniques in the video — specific uniques and anointments to be confirmed against the source video and its linked full build guide.
Endgame Notes
Boss play is about positioning discipline: stay at range, avoid standing still, apply Bone Cage for control where the encounter allows it, and commit Bonestorm during safe windows. In maps, lead with Bone Cage before packs reach you rather than reacting after they arrive — the build is at its strongest when control is established early.
