Overview
This build chases the weather-mage fantasy with Tornado on a mana-stacking Gemling Legionnaire, and the payoff is one of the smoothest mappers in 0.5. The engine is the Taming ring, which quadruples Tornado’s damage by granting it all three elemental damage bonuses, combined with stacked increased quality to keep up to five tornadoes spinning on screen at once for maximum coverage. The creator runs 200% delirious maps, breach, abyss and Wrath-of-the-Nameless juice without trouble — a safe, low-stress mapper you can clear “while you catch up on your podcasts.”
Gemling supplies the glue: +2 levels to intelligence skills, big mana regen from Virtuous Barrier, crit immunity, and the Gemstudded ascendancy node (30% less skill cost, 40% reduced movement penalty while casting, no crit damage taken). Defences come entirely from a large mana pool routed through Eldritch Battery and “mana taken before life” sources, plus a block-capped Spalin shield. A Templar Split Personality ruby is used to reach the keystones and passives cheaply without long pathing from the Gemling start.
Because Tornado is a non-ailment damage-over-time area spell that does not hit and does not overlap, scaling comes from gem levels, spell/area damage, and lowering enemy resistances via Thunderstorm shock and exposure rather than crit or penetration.
Pros & Cons
Pros
- Exceptionally smooth, safe mapping that handles literally any endgame content including 200% delirious maps
- Strong layered defence: ~4k mana as the effective health pool, block cap from Spalin, heavy temporal-chains slow for safety
- Tornado quality scaling gives constant five-tornado screen coverage
- Mana stacking doubles as damage (3% increased spell damage per 100 mana)
Cons
- Not a boss-speed build — the creator says you won’t set record kill times
- Very expensive at the showcased level (Rune Seeker’s wand, 100% Darkness Enthroned, Diala’s Desire, Zerphi’s Communion); a cheaper written version exists but still isn’t budget
- High complexity: balancing 17 of each support gem for Gemstudded, Split Personality pathing, and mana-before-life sourcing
- Tornado limitations — no overlap, no hit-based scaling, and shock must be manually scaled since Thunderstorm lost free shock
Key Skills
- Tornado — main damage; tri-elemental via Taming, scaled by quality to a five-tornado limit (Zenith, Considered Casting, Swift Affliction, Magnified Area)
- Thunderstorm — shock + lightning exposure source (~80% shock chance vs pinnacles) for the resistance/damage-taken multiplier
- Blasphemy (Temporal Chains + Elemental Weakness) — heavy quality boosts magnitude; temp chains slows from far away for safety
- Elemental Conflux — big damage multiplier (~20% more effective)
- Frost Bomb — alternative exposure stacker if you’d rather not manage shock
Gear & Anointments
Weapon is the new Rune Seeker’s cold wand for mana and spell-skill levels (a +6 physical-spell-skill wand works as a budget stand-in). Spalin shield single-handedly hits block cap with an Oxid rune and can roll up to 25% mana-taken-before-life. 100% Darkness Enthroned grants 10% quality to all skills plus curse immunity, and a Feathered Rayment chest supplies mana-before-life implicit. Mandatory gems are a Split Personality ruby (Templar for budget, Sorceress for efficiency) and a Prism of Belief. The Paragon anoint (new from Delirium emotions) is a key quality source. Exact rare rolls and the full passive routing should be confirmed against the source video and the creator’s written guide.
Endgame Notes
Purpose-built for juiced endgame mapping — 200% delirium, breach, abyss and pinnacle content. The creator notes future scaling toward 10,000 mana to enable The Stars Answer, and recommends Path of Building over Mobalytics since Split Personality isn’t yet supported in the latter.
