Overview

This Cast on Dodge Gemling Legionnaire is a high-end, movement-as-everything build where dodge rolling is both your offense and your defense. Every roll stores energy, and at maximum energy the Cast on Dodge trigger releases socketed spells — here, Ember Fusillade — so you never cast manually while mapping. You simply move, roll, and reposition while chains of fiery projectiles erase packs around you.

The core is the synergy between Cast on Dodge and Ember Fusillade. Heavy reductions to skill effect duration make Fusillade fire all its projectiles instantly rather than over time, turning each dodge into a burst. Gemling Legionnaire’s stat and gem scaling pushes the ceiling to one of the highest in the game, but that ceiling is only reachable with an extremely expensive stable of uniques — this is openly a dozens-to-hundreds-of-Divines build, not a starter.

Defensively, because you roll through almost the entire fight, you gain guard on every roll, a large energy-shield pool, and constant repositioning, making you very hard to pin down. For single target you cast Ember Fusillade manually with an Execute-heavy setup to delete bosses.

Pros & Cons

Pros

  • Near-hands-free mapping — dodge rolling auto-triggers Ember Fusillade, so movement clears the screen
  • Extremely high scaling ceiling via Gemling Legionnaire; keeps improving with more investment
  • Strong mobility-based defense: guard on every roll, big ES pool, constant repositioning
  • Massive chaining and speed make pack clear near-instant
  • Dedicated single-target cast setup with Execute burst deletes bosses

Cons

  • One of the most expensive builds in the game — relies on Mageblood, Headhunter, Rune-seeker’s Call, and more
  • Every recommended unique is essentially mandatory; the setup does not function on a budget
  • High mechanical and setup complexity: multiple trigger sources (Cast on Dodge, a second Cast on Dodge, Cast on Critical)
  • Not a league starter — this is a late-league luxury build

Key Skills

  • Cast on Dodge (amulet) — spirit-free trigger from the Absent amulet; primary offense while rolling
  • Ember Fusillade — rapid-fire fire projectile spell, made instant via reduced skill effect duration; the build’s damage across clear and single target
  • Second Cast on Dodge (self-socketed) — an independent trigger source that doubles Fusillade density while dodging
  • Cast on Critical — adds another wave of Fusillade after crits for higher damage density
  • Entangle + Despair — single-target debuffs (critical weakness via Effigy of Cruelty, chaos-res reduction) applied against bosses

Gear & Anointments

This build is defined by its uniques, and each carries a core mechanic. Rune-seeker’s Call is the strongest wand available and one of the priciest items in the game. Palm of the Dreamer grants Gloom Shrine for chaos explosions on kill. Decree of Flight is essential for guard-on-roll and faster dodge rolls (ideally corrupted above 30% faster roll). The Absent amulet must roll Grants Skill: Cast on Dodge. Defensive and utility slots use Mageblood, Headhunter, Loreweave (for +1 chain), Snake Pit (+1 chain), Split Personality, and the Effigy of Cruelty on a swap weapon for critical weakness. Jewels include Heart of the Well, Prism of Belief (+3 Ember Fusillade), and From Nothing. Rare pieces should supply high energy shield, capped resistances, and item rarity where possible, since the uniques carry offense. Exact rolls and supports should be confirmed against the source video.

Endgame Notes

This is a premium endgame and pinnacle build — the entire value proposition is a very high ceiling for players with a large budget who want something that scales endlessly. Mapping is fast and chaotic (Headhunter snowballing), and the dedicated single-target Fusillade setup handles bosses.
