Overview
This is a deliberate “meme that actually works” build — an Acolyte of Chayula running Ember Fusillade as the main payoff skill while standing in a mana-overflow puddle of Chayula remnants. Black Flame Covenant flips Ember Fusillade’s fire damage to chaos, which matches both the ascendancy theme and the lower chaos resistance of every endgame mob — so the conversion pays off twice. The build chains together a long list of synergies (purple remnants, Mind Over Matter for defense, Eldritch Battery to fund both, Life Tap so casts cost life instead of mana) and the whole thing only really clicks at level 80+, but once it does, it deletes screens with violet projectile salvos.
The creator is explicit this isn’t the strongest build in the game — it’s a showcase that Acolyte of Chayula CAN be made viable without Headhunter or Rakiyata’s Flow. The defensive layer is unusually deep for a Chayula build because mana doubles as the main pool via Mind Over Matter, and the Covenant Altar Robe’s “spell damage leeched as life” handles life recovery.
Most slots are open rare gear, which keeps cost reasonable; the staff is the one expensive item to chase.

- Cheap floor — only required unique is Covenant Altar Robe; gear can be modest rare crafts.
Cons
- Not a leveling build. Don’t roll this expecting it to feel good before level 80.
- Mapping clear speed is mediocre by current meta standards — Headhunter mitigates this but isn’t required.
- Acolyte of Chayula is bottom-tier ascendancy by default; the creator picks Inner Turmoil for volatility but admits its uptime is poor.
- High complexity — the synergy chain (Arcane Remnants + Empowering Remnants + Mana Remnants + Eldritch Battery + MoM + Life Tap + Black Flame Covenant + Elemental Equilibrium) is a lot to internalise.

Staff is the money slot — Roaring Staff with +levels to all fire/spell skills + spell damage + chaos damage + extra projectiles. Amulet: +3 spell skills + as much spirit as you can fit. Jewels: a Prism of Belief Diamond with +3 Ember Fusillade levels is best-in-slot; a Time Lost Sapphire near the chaos cluster works hard.
Endgame Notes
Boss rotation: drop a couple of Frost Bombs for cold remnants → Firestorm prebuff → apply Despair → Unleash + Ember Fusillade until the boss dies. Volatility uptime is genuinely bad; treat it as occasional damage spike rather than rotation core. Fireball is a viable trade for Ember Fusillade on white-pack maps if mapping clear feels too slow, but you keep Ember Fusillade as boss damage.
