Overview

Most Huntress league starters reach for Whirling Assault and physical damage. This one goes the other way: a pure summoner Spirit Walker that leans on Skeletal Arsonists and Summon Raging Spirit from level one, then converts into a pet build proper once the Act 3 monkey is tamed. The creator ran it as a day-one 0.5.5 start and matched the pace of a friend playing the conventional twister version all the way to the same tame.

The build’s whole arc is shaped around a single gate. Act 1 is smooth on cheap minions, Act 2 is the weak point where the summoner falls behind the attack-based version, and Act 3 opens up the moment the Wild Protector is captured. After that the creator reports reaching maps within two to three hours and pushing T1 through T15 without a gear overhaul.

What makes it worth playing over the twister variant is not raw speed but continuity — you never respec out of your leveling damage. The minions you start the campaign with are the same minions that carry the map clear, so the only thing that changes is which spirit reservation you run.

Pros & Cons

Pros

  • Extremely cheap to start; the creator’s entire Act 1 kit was floor drops plus one Alchemy and one Exalted Orb of purchases
  • No damage respec at the campaign/endgame boundary — the same minions scale the whole way
  • Minions tank for you during the Act 3 tame, which turns a dangerous fight into a patience check
  • Reaches mapping within a few hours of finishing Act 3 once the pet is secured
  • Both map clear and single-target hold up after the tame, so it does not need a second build

Cons

  • Act 2 is a genuine slog compared to the attack-based Huntress, which has ascendancy damage online earlier
  • The Act 3 tame is mandatory — everything before it is the build’s weakest window
  • Wants a specific chest piece during Act 2 to bridge the gap, which is a market dependency
  • Spirit is tight: an aura plus the pet consumes most of the budget, leaving little room for extra reservations
  • Resistance capping tends to lag because minion gear priorities compete with defensive rolls

Key Skills

  • Skeletal Arsonists — the primary damage minion for the campaign; the count scales directly with spirit and minion capacity
  • Summon Raging Spirit — burst damage triggered off Flame Wall, best kept at a low gem level early
  • Flame Wall — the trigger enabler, deliberately held at level 1–3
  • Contagion — early AoE clear, pulled from a mule Witch alongside Unearth
  • Pain Offering — the boss-phase damage spike, saved for stagger windows
  • Weathering Presence — endgame chaos-damage-taken debuff that lifts the whole minion team

Gear & Anointments

The leveling priority is flat and simple: a Rattling Sceptre with +levels first, then a helmet with +1 to minion skills, then the amulet. The creator reached the Act 1 boss on nothing but a purchased sceptre and helmet totalling +2 to minion skills.

  • Mule trick — roll a second character as a Witch to hand your Huntress a free Rattling Sceptre plus Unearth and one extra level-1 gem of your choice
  • Act 2 body armour — a unique chest that raises the Skeletal Arsonist count to five; it roughly doubles campaign damage and is the single biggest bridge to the tame. It becomes redundant after the pet is online, so treat it as a rental
  • Endgame rings — Everglasping-style rings granting increased chaos damage taken by enemies; two of them stack for roughly 40% more chaos damage to the whole team, at the cost of taking more chaos damage yourself
  • Shield over dual-wield for the Act 3–4 stretch — the safer option while resistances are still uncapped
  • Specific unique names beyond the minion-count chest should be confirmed against the source video footage

Ascendancy & Progression Notes

First ascendancy goes into the Wild Protector line for minion damage, minion capacity and Onslaught. Before the Act 3 monkey fight, respec out of Wild Protector into Natural Order — without those points the tame will not land. Come back for Wild Protector on the second ascendancy. Getting this order wrong wastes the entire fight.

Ritual is the recommended campaign side-activity: run every encounter you can clear comfortably, skip the ones that look like they will fail, and spend the Exalted and Alchemy Orbs immediately on +minion-level gear rather than banking them.

Endgame Notes

The pet plus a Hesara-style aura consumes most of the spirit pool, with enough left for Weathering Presence and one curse or debuff depending on preference. Damage scaling from there comes from chaos-taken stacking rather than more minions. The creator pushed T1 to T15 on this setup and flagged multi-mod pet captures as the next upgrade step.
