Overview

This Martial Artist Monk is a charge-fuelled speed build that uses Flicker Strike to teleport through packs and Falling Thunder to delete bosses. Flicker Strike is the iconic map-clearing engine — so long as power charges are available, the character blinks between enemies at max speed clearing everything in its path. The whole build is therefore engineered around generating power charges as fast and consistently as possible.

The Martial Artist ascendancy is what makes the charge economy work. Shattering Palm builds combo points, Culmination spends them, and the Marshal Master node bypasses Culmination’s normal restrictions so a single skill can both generate and spend combo — turning Shattering Palm into a one-button power-charge generator. Pairing it with Living Lightning is the key refinement: the summoned lightning wisps also build combo points, making charge generation smoother and faster than the older Whirling Assault generators. Charge Profusion then adds even more charges of multiple types, feeding Charge Regulation for a large damage-and-defence boost.

For single target, Falling Thunder spends power charges to fire multiple high-scaling projectiles, amplified by Breach Lord’s Amalgam Lineage (projectiles return for double damage) and Nova Projectiles. The result is a build that nukes maps and evaporates bosses from the same power-charge core.

Pros & Cons

Pros

  • Extremely fast, explosive Flicker Strike mapping
  • Falling Thunder one-shots bosses with a dedicated charge-spending combo
  • Self-sustaining charge engine via Shattering Palm + Living Lightning + Charge Profusion
  • Strong layered defence: energy shield, evasion, deflection, plus a companion soaking damage
  • Herald of Ice explosions and on-death explode gloves make clear feel seamless

Cons

  • A tough league starter to level — the creator ships separate campaign/interlude variants for a reason
  • High investment to reach the showcased version; relies on Chaos Inoculation, a Forgotten Warden chest, and tuned gear
  • Combo and charge management means the boss and map rotations differ and take practice
  • Requires a Chevron Satchel or Mageblood/Headhunter to sustain energy shield comfortably

Key Skills

  • Flicker Strike — primary map-clearing teleport, fuelled by power charges
  • Falling Thunder — single-target nuke that spends power charges for scaling projectile damage
  • Shattering Palm (+ Living Lightning) — combo and power-charge generator, smoothed by wisp-generated combo
  • Culmination — spends combo for damage and triggers charge generation
  • Charge Regulation — converts charges into damage and survivability
  • Herald of Ice — clear-speed and freeze layer off frozen kills

Gear & Anointments

The weapon is a polearm with critical strike chance and as many flat elemental damage rolls as possible (three ideal), socketing a Breath of Alder rune that converts all flat lightning and fire into cold to maximise Herald of Ice uptime. Stone Fist gloves (via Way of the Stonefist) want ranks to melee skills, crit chance, and crucially two chance-to-explode-on-death rolls plus chance for onslaught. The chest is the Forgotten Warden unique, granting a permanent companion and routing deflected and incoming damage onto that companion (amplified by Ramirez’s Requital). Helmet and boots favour energy-shield/evasion bases for layered defence; a boot roll for 15% chance to not consume a charge is the premium min-max target. Rings want flat cold damage plus a source of mana leech (with Oya’s Oath for infinite mana). A Chevron Satchel is the cheap energy-shield-sustain alternative to Mageblood/Headhunter.

Endgame Notes

The build transitions into Chaos Inoculation once you reach roughly 4k energy shield and the Chevron Satchel, with Marshal Adept reducing energy-shield recharge delay per combo point spent. Mapping leans on Flicker Strike with Mantra of Destruction; bossing uses a deliberate Shattering Palm to Charge Staff to Mantra ramp before a Falling Thunder one-shot.
