Overview
Flicker Strike on the Titan turns a notoriously fiddly strike skill into one of the fastest endgame mapping setups in 0.5. Because Flicker Strike teleports straight to its target, the build sidesteps the usual melee problem of scaling area of effect entirely — every point that would go into AoE goes into raw damage and power charge sustain instead. The result is a character that erases packs on the way past them and still has enough concentrated single-target output to delete rare monsters and bosses in the same click.
The Titan ascendancy is what holds it together. Hulking Form amplifies every small passive on the tree, which quietly turns the dense clusters of 27% crit damage and crit chance nodes on the Monk side into a huge multiplier. Crushing Impacts makes every hit stun, doubling as a defensive layer and a damage bonus against heavily stunned enemies, and Rolling Assault knocks enemies back on quarterstaff crits so very little ever gets to swing back.
The whole build lives and dies on power charge generation, since Flicker Strike cannot generate charges while it is being used. The creator layers four separate sources — Profane Ritual through Cast on Critical, Killing Palm culls, a seven-combo Mantra of Destruction linked to Ilith’s Chimes for boss openers, and the Generator anointment feeding off the intelligence requirements of the slotted skills — then stacks roughly 60% chance to not consume charges on top so the pool never empties.
Pros & Cons
Pros
- Extremely fast mapping with no AoE investment required — the skill teleports to targets on its own
- Enormous single-target ceiling; the creator’s tooltip sits near 29 million and anything above ~3 million is called overkill
- Very tanky for a melee build: 120k+ EHP from stacked armour, evasion, Wind Dancer and Ghost Dance
- Crushing Impacts stuns everything, which is a real defensive layer on top of the damage bonus
- Scales cleanly with cheap crit nodes once Hulking Form is online — the expensive gear is optional, not required
Cons
- Hard endgame transition, not a league-start plan — it wants 90%+ crit chance before it feels good
- A desync bug can leave the character flickering in place dealing zero damage
- Power charge generation is a multi-source puzzle; miss a piece and the rotation stalls
- Best-in-slot belt (Darkness Enthroned, or Mageblood above it) is a serious investment
- Charge Regulation and Charge Staff both eat charges, so early versions feel much less smooth
Key Skills
- Flicker Strike — the only kill skill; teleports to targets and consumes power charges, with quality granting multiplicative crit chance
- Killing Palm — cull generator: grants a power charge on cull, builds combos for Mantra of Destruction, and regenerates rage
- Mantra of Destruction — linked with Ilith’s Chimes, converts seven combo points into power charges for zero-charge boss openers
- Profane Ritual (Cast on Critical) — auto-cast off corpses, shortened to ~0.45s with Overabundance, Intense Agony and Compressed Duration for a constant charge feed
- Defy — lets skills fire with insufficient mana while Surrounded, which is why the build never manages mana at all
Gear & Anointments
The weapon is a crafted quarterstaff: elemental damage percentage plus flat lightning as prefixes, then flat fire or cold, with melee crit chance and attack speed or crit damage in the suffixes. Cold opens up Herald of Ice if you can source it.
- Constructing Command helmet — the Surrounded enabler; the requirement roll must read four or five so a single nearby enemy keeps every Surrounded passive active
- Darkness Enthroned — Abyss belt with ~100% increased effect of socketed items, doubling the Ilith idol (chance to not remove charges) and Fox idol (quality to all skills) sitting in the body armour
- Legacy of Grymm — 50 all attributes, balancing strength for life scaling against the Jack of All Trades damage gain
- Split Personality jewel from the Shadow start, reaching the Monk-side crit and power charge cluster
- Generator anointment on the helmet (or the amulet early, in place of Xerox’s Gift) for constant charge generation off intelligence-requirement skills
- Boots want the suffix chance to not consume charges; stack it with the Fabled passive and Perpetual Charge
Aim for maximum power charges everywhere — Overflowing Power on the tree, plus a corrupted +2 charges helmet takes the total toward eight or nine.
Endgame Notes
The showcase footage is a fully juiced 200% delirious triple-Abyss tablet map with extra modifiers and rare monster spawning, run without shrine effects or extra buffs. Abyss map density is where the build shines. Berserk spirit aura is optional — drop it if life regeneration is thin, though a life flask covers the drain comfortably.
