Overview
This Chronomancer leans entirely on the Vaal infusion engine to turn a single button into a screen-clearing, boss-deleting cold caster. Ice Nova handles all mapping while Frost Wall plus Comet provide the single-target burst, and the whole package runs on a Cast on Elemental Ailment loop that keeps four Vaal infusions live at all times. Those infusions quadruple Ice Nova’s damage, empower Comet for fire infusions, and feed Frost Wall for lightning infusions, so the build effectively triples its own output without extra input from the player.
What makes it stand out is how cheap the core is relative to its ceiling. The creator league-started the character and reports crushing the entire game from day one, melting pinnacle bosses on what they call a shoestring budget. Most rare slots are sub-divine pieces desecrated for life, resistances, and rarity, with the real power coming from a handful of targeted uniques and the runic-ward defensive trick rather than from raw gear spend.
The defensive backbone is Oroth’s Resolve abused alongside a Heart of the Well that converts a sliver of skill cost to life. Every cast pays a tiny life cost, which lets the flask grant a permanent 2,000 guard shield on demand — pushed to 3,000 while mapping with Remnants of Kalguur overflowing runic ward. The result is a caster that feels both safe and absurdly high-damage.
Pros & Cons
Pros
- One-button mapping: Ice Nova alone clears the screen, with Frost Walls for breaking on rares and big packs
- Enormous single-target — the creator claims Ice Wall + Ice Nova reloads one-shot almost every boss
- Permanent ~2,000-3,000 guard shield on a button via Oroth’s Resolve + runic ward
- Cheap entry: most rares are sub-divine desecrated pieces, league-start friendly
- The Vaal infusion loop runs automatically once set up, freeing the player to focus on positioning
Cons
- Heavy setup: the Cast on Elemental Ailment / Powered by Vicium / Siphon Elements chain is a lot of moving parts to assemble
- Relies on a few specific items (Heart of the Well with cost-to-life, an Absence amulet base, the runeforged grasping-mail chest) that take crafting or RNG to land
- The runeforged chest is a 1-in-4 base-keep gamble — bricked attempts are pure loss
- Weapon-set passive management adds bookkeeping that newer players may find fiddly
Key Skills
- Ice Nova — the core mapping and single-target nuke, cold-infused for quadruple damage
- Frost Wall — breaks for huge single-target burst and area control
- Comet (via Cast on Elemental Ailment) — automated burst layered into the rotation
- Powered by Vicium / Runic Extraction — generates the four Vaal infusions that power everything
- Remnants of Kalguur — free Grim-Feast-style ward generation plus runic-ward overflow
Gear & Anointments
The staff is the damage anchor: prioritise level of all cold spell skills, then increased spell and cold damage, with added-as-extra lightning/cold lines to enable shock. If the staff lacks added-as-extra lightning, source it from a Heart of the Well or a rune instead. The amulet is an Absence base for a free Cast on Elemental Ailment spirit skill, casted up to 40 quality via breach essence. The chest is a runeforged grasping mail rolled for spirit, life, and increased runic ward. Jewels of note are a large-radius Time-Lost Sapphire with double crit mods and a Heart of the Well carrying the 2% cost-converted-to-life line. Specific item rolls should be confirmed against the source video’s crafting clips.
Endgame Notes
Ascendancy order is Sands of Time, Apex of the Moment, Now and Again, then Phased Form. For maximum pinnacle single-target the creator suggests swapping Runic Extraction for Cold Mastery, though they note the boss damage is already high enough that they rarely bother. Single-target rotation is Sigil of Power, curse, Frost Bomb on cooldown, then alternating Ice Wall and Ice Nova.
