Overview
This build turns the Witchhunter into a high-speed minion mapper by pushing Cooling Strike (“cool”) threshold to absurd levels and pairing it with Lightning Warp. With roughly 410% threshold, normal and magic monsters are culled the instant you or your minions touch them, rares die around half life, and even uniques are vulnerable near 25%. Because cool bypasses enemy defenses entirely, it shrugs off mechanics like Delirium’s damage reduction that wall most builds.
The playstyle revolves around scanning the screen for blue “cull” orbs and warping to them, instantly deleting the target and everything around it. Repulsion — a new curse run with Blasphemy and heavy area scaling — makes the build a partial autobomber: anything your minions hit inside the curse radius triggers explosions that summon Living Lightning and Verisium Manifestation minions, which loop the chain without any input. The result feels less like casting and more like flowing through a map watching everything pop.
Defensively it leans on Sorcery Ward (from the Witchhunter ascendancy) layered over ~50% evasion, with sustain from soul drain, life drain, and life on kill. The tradeoff: Sorcery Ward only absorbs hits, so the build is comparatively soft against damage over time.
Pros & Cons
Pros
- Blistering map clear — Lightning Warp plus cull instantly removes normal/magic packs and most rares
- Cull ignores enemy defenses, including Delirium damage reduction
- Largely automated: Repulsion + Living Lightning loop clears without active casting
- Strong single-target through Powered Zealot specters and curse stacking
- Solid layered defense via Sorcery Ward over ~50% evasion plus on-kill/on-hit sustain
Cons
- Sorcery Ward only covers hits — weak to damage over time
- Sorcery Ward is a top-of-screen buff that can be hard to track
- Gear-gated: relies on Mahuxotl-tier cull threshold uniques and pinnacle-drop gloves
- Skyfall has a long cast time and is only usable during downtime
- Several best-in-slot options (Palm of the Dreamer, Disciple of Abraxas variant) are extremely expensive
Key Skills
- Lightning Warp — the core mover and clear tool; warps to any cull target and pulses cooling lightning, costs less mana than it returns
- Repulsion (+ Blasphemy) — curse aura whose explosions cull, summon Living Lightning, and self-sustain the loop
- Living Lightning — minions that keep you surrounded after a warp and lay shocked ground for follow-up damage
- Skyfall (+ Spell Cascade) — a precast damage cooldown spawning nine temporary melee minions before a boss
- Ember Fusillade — low-cast-time skill to spit out Raging Spirits onto rares and bosses
Gear & Anointments
The build is built around scaling Cooling Strike threshold. Mahuxotl’s amulet is vital for a large consistent threshold chunk — aim for a corrupted roll near 115%. Horror’s Flight gloves (a Tangazu pinnacle Delirium drop) give up to 200% threshold at 20 Fear Incarnate stacks, ideally with the Raven Touched mod so a Hunting Companion can be instilled for a further 20%. A Split Personality jewel (Sorceress variant is best but pricey) and a Heart of the Well jewel round out the threshold stacking. Body armour and boots/focus are dedicated to Sorcery Ward and Runic Power, while the amulet wants +3 minion levels and evasion. Specters should be the spark-casting Powered Zealot variant for single target. Don’t forget lightning damage to attacks on a ring so Repulsion can spawn Living Lightning. Specific item rolls should be confirmed against the source video.
Endgame Notes
Cull’s defense-bypass makes this especially strong into Delirium and other modifier-heavy content, and the Zealous Inquisition explosion chance doubles inside Abyss and Breach. For serious pinnacle bossing, swap Mahuxotl for a +2 minion level, high-evasion helmet. A far more expensive Disciple of Abraxas variant exists for those with mirror-tier currency, extracting Cooling Strike into Horror’s Flight and weapon-swapping a Palm of the Dreamer.
