Overview
Instead of running a wide minion army, this Spirit Walker build invests everything into a single tamed boss companion — the big monkey — and lets it carry both clear and single-target. It is positioned as one of the highest-damage setups in 0.5, and the creator notes that top players have converged on the same core configuration.
The payoff is concentrated burst: once the monkey is scaled with minion levels, companion damage, attack speed, Pain Offering, rare-monster modifiers and the right support gems, it chunks bosses as if they were ordinary rares thanks to its AoE and one-shot potential. The trade-off the build makes — one giant companion over many small minions — is what gives it that ceiling.
Gameplay is deliberately low-effort: you run through maps, the companion catches up and slams packs, and everything nearby dies. For bosses you apply debuffs, pop offering, and watch the health bar evaporate.
Pros & Cons
Pros
- Extremely high single-target — deletes bosses with the monkey’s slam and one-shot potential
- Chill, low-input mapping where the companion does most of the killing
- Proven meta setup mirrored by top players this patch
- Tyrant’s Grip double-upgrade is now a cheap damage boost over the alternative
Cons
- Leans on a specific companion + idol + reservation package, so it is not a fresh-league starter
- Weapon-swap bug forced dropping the otherwise-strong Sylvan Scepter (companions randomly vanished)
- Companion uptime depends on durability — squishier companions break the leader uptime
- Reward depends on keeping the monkey alive and buffed; it is the whole build
Key Skills
- Tamed Monkey Companion — the single boss companion that carries all damage
- Pain Offering — major companion damage multiplier for boss bursts
- Twister / Whirling Slash (leveling) — the early-game skills before the companion comes online
- Companion support package — minion levels, attack speed and rare-modifier scaling
Gear & Anointments
The build settled on the Tyrant’s Grip (double-upgraded) as a cheap damage piece, slightly ahead of the Trench Timer. The Sylvan Scepter tested strongest for army-style clear but was dropped over the weapon-swap disappearing-companion bug, and Crooked’s Revenge was passed over for more consistent leader uptime unless paired with a very durable companion. Defensively it runs the Fortress lab, nine idols, extra reservation efficiency, Ghost Dance, and evasion/deflection scaling. Endgame Notes
This is squarely an endgame meta build: it targets boss deletion via the scaled companion and chill map clear, with the defensive idol/reservation layer added specifically to survive deeper pinnacle content.
