Overview

This is a two-stage Gemling Legionnaire league-start plan rather than a single fixed build. The opening act is Twister — a spear whirlwind archetype that already hits absurdly hard with no investment at all — carried from the first zone through the campaign and into early maps. Once the character has banked enough currency, it pivots into Cast on Crit Comet with Spark, which NickTew rates as the strongest ceiling in the game right now.

The reason both halves live on the same character is Advanced Thaumaturgy. The Gemling quality bonus turns Spark’s extra projectiles, Arc’s added gem levels and Frost Wall’s ice crystal life into a compounding damage stack: destroying a quality-scaled ice crystal with Spark returns roughly 300% gain as extra cold damage through Vergiless support, which makes proccing Cast on Crit Comet trivially cheap. That is the payoff, but it only exists once quality is stacked, which is exactly why the plan does not start there.

The practical consequence is that this entry covers two very different playstyles. Early league you are a fast, glassy spear attacker. Late league you are a squishy but enormous elemental caster with a Mind Over Matter defence built on Eldritch Battery mana. Neither half needs mirror-tier gear to function.

Pros & Cons

Pros

  • Twister is functional from level one and dominates the campaign with essentially zero gear investment
  • Gemling’s quality scaling means the endgame Spark pivot is reachable for under ten Divine
  • Staying on one character avoids re-levelling, so all currency compounds into the same build
  • Twister scales almost without ceiling — the creator quotes trillion-DPS figures on a fully invested version
  • Ritual and high-Delirium map content are both comfortable once the Spark swap lands

Cons

  • Defences are genuinely bad early. The plan is openly glass cannon until enough passive points exist for hybrid Evasion / Energy Shield
  • The Spark pivot is gated behind a Split Personality (Sorceress) jewel, which is expected to be expensive on day one
  • Twister’s animation cadence is clunky and takes practice before it feels smooth
  • Two distinct gear sets and skill setups is more planning overhead than a single-archetype starter

Key Skills

  • Twister — the campaign and early-map carry; spear whirlwind that scales explosively with attack speed
  • Whirling Slash — the stage builder that feeds Twister and generates rage
  • Spark — the endgame clear and damage engine once quality is online
  • Comet (via Cast on Crit) — the triggered burst layer that Spark procs
  • Frost Wall — quality target for ice crystal life, the multiplier behind the whole Spark setup

Gear & Anointments

Twister wants a spear crafted around flat and percentage physical damage — grab a high-percent-physical base, slam an Essence of Abrasion, then Abyss desecrate the prefix for flat damage. An off-hand Sceptre is preferred over a Buckler once on Gemling, for the extra Spirit reservation that unlocks double Heralds, Wind Dancer and Combat Frenzy. Evasion bases everywhere else.

The Spark swap has a hard shopping list: Split Personality (Sorceress) to reach the caster side of the tree, Adonis Ego, Maligaro’s Gloves, a Darkness Enthroned belt housing a Fox Idol for extra effective quality, and Arbiter’s Ignition Support to reach Elemental Archon. Dominion is the mandatory amulet anoint. Wake of Destruction and a Barrick ring are strong early Twister pickups; Sacred Flame and Ingenuity are nice-to-haves, not requirements.

Endgame Notes

The stated cadence is Twister through the campaign and into early maps, then the caster swap around level 90 once the uniques are assembled. If a Headhunter shows up first, the creator recommends taking it before swapping — Spark with Headhunter is described as the strongest configuration available.
