Overview
This build turns Frostbolt into a screen-covering totem caster by leaning entirely on the Gemling Legionnaire’s gem-quality engine. The Advanced Thaumaturgy ascendancy notable grants every self-socketed skill a secondary “alternate quality” effect, and the build stacks quality from every available source so those effects roughly double. The headline payoff is Spell Totem’s alt quality, which grants cast speed per summoned totem — with five (soon six) totems and a huge quality investment, that compounds into well over 100% increased cast speed.
Damage comes from totems firing Frostbolt in all directions, abusing projectile behaviour rather than raw stacking. Snakepit rings let the projectiles fork and chain instead of piercing, Cinion’s Temper guarantees periodic eight-projectile circular volleys, and Frost Wall provides terrain that every projectile collides with and explodes against. Dropped on a stacked boss, the overlapping wall explosions delete pinnacle targets in two to three seconds.
The creator is explicit that this is an endgame project, not a fresh-start build. It comes online once you can swap into totems in maps and acquire the supporting uniques, and it scales cleanly into 200% Delirium and any pinnacle content.
Pros & Cons
Pros
- Bosses melt in 2–3 seconds via shotgunned Frost Wall explosions
- Massive offscreen clear from forking/chaining/wall-chaining projectiles
- Extremely high cast speed makes mapping feel snappy and fast
- Crit-immune and very tanky via Gemstudded plus a large mana-before-life (MoM) pool
- Scales smoothly from a modest setup to a full min-max build
Cons
- Poor league starter — leveling as totems is miserable; you must level another way and swap
- Gear-gated at the top end (Mageblood, Dialla’s, desecrated mods) for the showcased version
- Many moving parts: a multi-button boss rotation plus int/str support-gem balancing
- Relies on several specific uniques (Snakepit, Sarah’s Heart, Valenta’s propulsion source) to function
Key Skills
- Frostbolt (Spell Totem) — the core damage; totems fire projectiles in all directions
- Frost Wall — terrain for projectiles to collide and explode against; the single-target multiplier
- Freezing Mark — near-instant freeze on bosses so they die before they can act
- Elemental Weakness + Frost Bomb — curse and exposure stacking on the second weapon set for bossing
- Mana Tempest — a pre-boss buff granting a large chunk of damage as extra lightning
Gear & Anointments
The build is wand + scepter, weapon-swapping to a curse/exposure set for boss fights. Key uniques: Snakepit (removes pierce to enable fork/chain), Sarah’s Heart (resistances treated as 90% plus intimidate), and a propulsion source that converts cast speed into projectile speed. Spirit is the main scaling bottleneck for adding the sixth totem, so crafted ES/spirit body armour and scepter do heavy lifting. Paragon (amulet/helmet anoint) grants the all-important +5 quality and +5 attributes. Dialla’s Desire and Mageblood are luxury endgame upgrades, not requirements — the creator cleared all content without them. Specific item rolls to be confirmed against the source video.
Endgame Notes
Designed for high-tier mapping and pinnacle bossing. Drop all totems on the boss spawn point, lay Frost Walls on top, apply Freezing Mark and Mana Tempest, and the overlapping explosions handle the rest. Handles 200% Delirium comfortably.
