Overview

This build turns the Bloodmage into a near one-button mapper built around Scattering Calamity. Holding the cast button rapidly launches a swarm of well-sprites that saturate the screen with damage, so the bulk of clearing is handled by a single held input while everything else runs on autopilot. The creator considers it his favourite one-button setup, and the build’s identity is exactly that: minimal active inputs, maximum screen coverage.

The defining trick is reaching the launch-duration breakpoint. Two layers of reduced skill-effect duration are mandatory — without them the well-sprites fire far slower and the build feels sluggish. A unique Split Personality jewel lets the Bloodmage allocate from the Oracle/Templar starting area, opening up crit and Mind over Matter that a pure Witch start could not reach. A Cast on Critical link layered with Comet handles concentrated single-target work in juiced content, where Scattering Calamity alone already shreds packs.

This is an aspirational, gear-hungry endgame build rather than a fresh-start project. The creator publishes budget, medium, high, and aspirational tiers, and stresses completing each tier’s tree and item list fully before moving to the next — several skill links and tree paths change between tiers.

Pros & Cons

Pros

  • Genuinely one-button mapping — hold cast and the well-sprites clear the screen
  • Huge clear once the launch-duration breakpoints are met
  • Cast on Crit Comet covers single-target and pinnacle damage without extra inputs
  • Rakiata’s flow solves penetration, freeing up the tree and removing the need for Leopold’s gloves
  • Charge generation is automated through Thaumaturgic Generator, so power and frenzy charges stay up passively

Cons

  • Very gear-dependent: Split Personality, Rakiata’s, Belt of Ingenuity (or Mageblood/Headhunter), Astramentus and a tailored staff are all expected
  • Setup is fiddly — weapon-swap socketing tricks and exact duration breakpoints must be followed precisely
  • Crafted gloves (plus-two projectiles via Collarbone Hunt + Marksman mods) are expensive and not beginner-friendly
  • Not a league starter; the cheap tier still leans on uniques

Key Skills

  • Scattering Calamity — the core one-button skill; launches well-sprites that handle nearly all clearing
  • Comet (Cast on Critical) — automated single-target nuke for bosses and juiced content
  • Mind over Matter — reached via Split Personality + Controlled Metamorphosis for a mana-based defensive layer
  • Charge Regulation / Thaumaturgic Generator — passive power and frenzy charge generation from gear attribute requirements

Gear & Anointments

The staff is the centrepiece: chase chance for spells to fire two projectiles, increased spell damage per 100 mana, and increased elemental damage, then socket runes such as a Rune of Wisdom and a Sacrificial rune (or a Perfect Iron Rune for raw spell damage). Rakiata’s flow replaces a penetration spec and removes the need for Leopold’s gloves; instead, self-crafted gloves rolling +2 projectiles (via Collarbone Hunt and Marksman modifiers) are the target. The belt slot wants Belt of Ingenuity for pinnacle bosses, with Headhunter or Mageblood as mapping alternatives. The Split Personality jewel (Templar-allocation variant) is non-negotiable for the tree path. Specific roll priorities and tiered variants should be confirmed against the creator’s living build planner.

Endgame Notes

The aspirational tier is tuned for heavily juiced maps and pinnacle bossing. For pinnacle fights the creator recommends swapping back to Belt of Ingenuity. Aldrich Battery converts energy shield into mana to feed Mind over Matter, and a Heart of the Well diamond plus five-passive jewels add large but costly damage multipliers.
