Overview

This is a mid-game checkpoint for the Ice Wolf Shaman: it covers the stretch between the end of the campaign (around level 65) and comfortable T15 mapping (around level 90). At level 80 the character runs alched T11 maps with four to five mods. Compared with the glass-cannon campaign setup, it is now much tankier, clears faster, and kills bosses quicker than before.

Damage comes from wolf-form Shred and Lunar Assault, with three cold-conversion buffs kept up the whole time: Freezing Mark through Pounce, Lunar Blessing fed by rage, and Bhatair’s Vengeance granted on freeze. Together they add roughly 50–80% of damage as extra cold. Herald of Ice explosions and Lunar Blessing moonbeams, plus heavy area investment, handle pack clear. The Shaman ascendancy gives exposure in your presence and elemental penetration, which covers almost all map resistance mods.

Shaman is picked over Oracle on purpose. It is easier to play, and its ascendancy has strong defensive nodes. Oracle is seen as a later-game option that needs crit investment and new keystones.

Pros & Cons

Pros

  • Very tanky by T11: armour also applies to elemental hits, and about 1,300 energy shield recharges in a few seconds
  • Exposure plus 15% and 21% penetration nodes cover nearly all regular map content without dedicated resistance gear
  • The clear rotation stays simple, and all three cold buffs can be kept up all the time
  • Fast boss kills: the Eternal Mark setup keeps armour break and Mark of Siphoning active while the boss is frozen
  • Built on a low budget; the creator had only about one divine invested at this point

Cons

  • Mana is tight with high attack speed. It relies on the Siphon anoint, Mark of Siphoning, and Clarity as stopgaps
  • Rage upkeep needs Rage support gems or tree nodes until jewels with rage on hit are available
  • Exposure is weaker against unique monsters, so pinnacle bosses with 75% resistances need a separate plan later
  • The boss rotation has more steps than the clear rotation

Key Skills

  • Shred — wolf-form basic attack that builds rage, supported by Rage III
  • Lunar Assault — main freeze and clear skill, now with Magnified Area II in the fourth socket
  • Pounce — applies Freezing Mark, Mark of Siphoning, and Mark for Death, kept active by Eternal Mark
  • Lunar Blessing — rage-fuelled buff with moonbeams, kept up all the time in maps
  • Herald of Ice — chain explosions on frozen kills for pack clear

Gear & Anointments

The amulet anoint is Siphon, which recovers mana on kill and solves mana problems in maps. Priorities by slot:

  • Weapon — high total DPS with a lean toward physical damage, plus levels to melee skills and attack speed
  • Gloves / rings — flat damage, attack speed, increased cold damage, resistances; some rarity on rings if possible
  • Helmet / body armour — as much armour and energy shield as possible; a hybrid chest with faster start of energy shield recharge is ideal
  • Amulet — the main future upgrade is +1 to +3 levels of melee skills
  • Gem quality priority: Lunar Blessing, then Lunar Assault, then Herald of Ice

Endgame Notes

The later plan is to replace Herald of Ash. One route is Wisdom of the Maji with Lord of the Wilds to put a scepter with bonded idols in the offhand for increased damage while shapeshifted. Another is runes whose bonded effect grants +1 level to attack skills, which would boost both pinnacle bossing and clear. The creator plans a separate low-budget T15 follow-up.
