Overview
This build turns the Acolyte of Chayula’s Archon of Chayula skill into a hands-off tornado engine. While the Archon buff is active it spawns lingering tornadoes that automatically seek out enemies, and every time a tornado lands a hit it counts as a weapon hit, which triggers Molten Shower from the unique mace Brutus’ Lead Sprinkler. The result is a playstyle where you mostly dodge-roll around the screen while a swarm of self-targeting tornadoes melts everything for you — no aiming, very few buttons to press.
The damage scaling is built on strength stacking. Twin Brutus’ Lead Sprinklers add a large amount of global flat fire damage, Iron Grasp’s keystones turn strength into projectile and spell damage (Crown of Eyes then makes that spell scaling apply to attacks too), and Original Sin converts the fire into chaos. Stacked withered, the Archon buff’s more-chaos multiplier, and the purple remnants from Into the Breach push the build into genuine screen-melting territory.
Because Archon of Chayula normally has a 20-second recovery period after the buff ends, the whole loop hinges on the Dominion anoint, which removes that recovery so you can chain the buff back-to-back and keep tornadoes on the field permanently.
Pros & Cons
Pros
- Extremely low-APM once rolling — tornadoes auto-target and auto-move, so you mostly just dodge
- Huge chaos damage ceiling that melts almost anything it comes across
- Excellent at lingering-tornado-friendly mechanics like Ritual and Abyss, where the tornadoes camp the spawn and clear it instantly
- An optional block variant (Svalinn shield) adds a real defensive layer for juiced maps
Cons
- Squishy: low hit pool for an ES build, with no block/evasion/avoidance by default — fully reliant on dodge roll
- Not a fast mapper; the tornadoes are slow and there’s little room to scale movement speed
- Gear-gated — needs several uniques (2× Brutus’ Lead Sprinkler, Iron Grasp, Crown of Eyes, Original Sin, Astramentis) and a decent budget
- Not a league starter; requires the full 8-point ascendancy unlocked first
Key Skills
- Archon of Chayula — glory skill that spawns the auto-targeting tornadoes; the core of the build
- Molten Shower — granted by Brutus’ Lead Sprinkler and triggered by tornado hits; the primary damage dealer
- Molten Blast — used purely for glory generation when you need to recharge Archon manually
- Into the Breach — ascendancy skill that spawns purple remnants for stacking extra chaos damage
- Despair (weapon swap) — single-target booster via Curse Carver for tougher targets
Gear & Anointments
The weapon base is dual Brutus’ Lead Sprinkler maces (rune-forged with base fire for a small boost while uncorrupted). The mandatory uniques are Iron Grasp (body armour), Crown of Eyes (helmet), Original Sin (ring, for the fire→chaos conversion), and Astramentis (amulet) for the attributes. The build is held together by the Dominion amulet anoint, which removes the Archon recovery period — this is non-negotiable. A Heroic Tragedy jewel named “Verona” grants Black Scythe Training so strength also scales energy shield (only the name matters, not the seed). Resistances are solved on crafted gloves/belt/ring — the ES belt mod is breach-crafting exclusive — plus corrupted-resistance jewels, since Grand Spectrum sapphires have spiked in price.
Endgame Notes
This is a respec target, not a campaign build — swap into it once your full ascendancy is unlocked, since Archon of Chayula must be unlocked by speaking to Chayula in the Monastery of the Keepers after completing the Breach questline. For juiced maps where the squishiness shows, the optional Svalinn block variant trades one Brutus’ Lead Sprinkler for roughly 63% block at very low investment, making the build much more comfortable at the cost of some damage.
