Overview
This build turns Ice Shot into a full-screen freeze engine on the Ranger, pairing a cold-converted bow with heavy critical-strike scaling to make a single shot ripple across the entire screen. The projectile spreads, freezes packs, triggers Herald of Ice, and chains into more explosions, so in 0.5 the skill finally pushes into genuine endgame territory rather than fizzling out once monsters get tanky.
The clever part is how it solves Ice Shot’s weak single-target. By placing a Tornado Shot between the player and a boss and then firing Ice Shot through it, the build shotguns the target with overlapping projectiles and turns a clear-focused skill into a real boss killer. Layered on top is a Mirage Archer that fires its own Ice Shots, plus an armour-explosion package that keeps the screen detonating.
Defensively it leans on evasion, energy shield from evasion bases, and Ghost Dance recovery, so it feels surprisingly tanky for a bow build while staying fast and mobile. It starts simple — shoot and move — but scales hard with crit, quiver upgrades and Hyrri’s pieces.
Pros & Cons
Pros
- Screen-wide clear from a single Ice Shot via projectile spread, freeze and Herald of Ice chains
- Strong single-target once you set up Tornado Shot shotgunning — handles bosses and pinnacle content
- Mirage Archer adds passive damage to both clear and bossing
- High evasion + Ghost Dance energy-shield recovery makes it tankier than most bow builds
- Constant freezes give a strong defensive layer and pair with damage-vs-frozen nodes
Cons
- Gear-gated: wants Hyrri’s body armour, a good crit bow and quiver to feel its best
- Crit scaling means low-investment versions feel weak until Garukhan’s Resolve comes online
- Boss damage depends on tight positioning (standing close, refreshing Tornado Shot)
- Heavy on-screen effects can get noisy
Key Skills
- Ice Shot — main skill; Ricochet, Elemental Armament, Fork, Garukhan’s Resolve, Rakiyata’s Flow for crit and resist penetration
- Mirage Archer (Ice Shot) — autonomous second source of Ice Shots for clear and boss uptime
- Tornado Shot — the bossing setup; fire Ice Shot through it to multiply projectiles into a single target
- Herald of Ice — armour-explosion / chain engine that keeps the screen detonating
- Freezing Mark — Mark of the Suffering, Eternal Mark, Mark for the Dead, Charged Mark for mana, armour-break and shock on bosses
Gear & Anointments
The bow is the most important piece: physical or added cold damage, high critical chance, attack speed and ideally projectile levels — base crit is what the whole build scales from. For the quiver, Hyrri’s Demise is the mapping option while a strong rare (Visceral-style) quiver with projectile levels and crit is the pinnacle-bossing pick. Hyrri’s body armour supplies the evasion, cold damage and freeze duration the build wants; a Subterfuge Mask converts a high-energy-shield helmet into evasion, and Ghost Dance recovers a big chunk of ES on hit. Ascend Deadeye (Gathering Winds → Mirage Deadeye → Projectile Proximity Specialisation → Endless Munitions); Amazon is a viable alternative. Specific unique rolls should be confirmed against the source video.
Endgame Notes
The creator positions this as a fast cold bow build that still pushes expensive endgame: clear maps by firing Ice Shot and letting Mirage Archer plus Herald of Ice do the work, then swap to the mark-and-Tornado-Shot routine for bosses and pinnacle fights. Every upgrade compounds — better crit strengthens Garukhan’s Resolve, better quivers improve both clear and bossing, and more evasion makes Ghost Dance recovery more reliable.
