Overview
This is a cold-based Ice Shot Ranger built around firing a single bow attack that freezes the screen and chains explosions until packs disappear before they reach you. In 0.5 the skill scales into serious endgame territory thanks to heavy crit investment, a Mirage Deadeye that fires its own Ice Shots, and a Herald of Ice armour-explosion loop that keeps packs shattering long after the first arrow lands.
Mapping is deliberately simple: shoot Ice Shot, keep moving, and let projectile spread, freezes, and chained explosions do the work. For tougher targets the build leans on Tornado Shot as a single-target multiplier — you place the tornado between yourself and the boss, stand close, and fire Ice Shot through it so the projectiles overlap for huge damage.
Defensively it is tankier than it looks. High evasion from a Hariss-style body armour, an energy-shield helmet converted toward evasion, and Ghost Dance recovery on hit give it enough of a cushion to sit in pinnacle fights while still feeling fast and flashy.
Pros & Cons
Pros
- Screen-wide clear from a single Ice Shot press, with constant freezes and Herald of Ice explosion chains
- Strong boss damage once Tornado Shot is layered in to shotgun projectiles into a single target
- Handles pinnacle content and dangerous maps, not just fast mapping
- Surprisingly tanky through high evasion, energy-shield conversion, and Ghost Dance recovery
- Scales smoothly with investment — every crit and quiver upgrade is felt immediately
Cons
- Ice Shot is weak single-target on its own and depends on Tornado Shot setup for bosses
- Bossing requires positioning close to the target to barrel-shot through the tornado, which raises risk
- Many linked skills and mark automation make the rotation busier than a plain mapper
- Real damage comes online only after committing to a proper crit-chance/crit-damage base
Key Skills
- Ice Shot — main skill; freezes, spreads projectiles, and feeds the explosion chain for clear
- Tornado Shot — bossing multiplier; placed between you and the target so Ice Shot shotguns through it
- Mirage Deadeye (Ice Shot) — an extra Ice Shot source that boosts both clear and single-target uptime
- Herald of Ice — armour-explosion tech that breaks armour, spawns projectiles, and re-freezes packs
- Freezing Salvo — on-demand freeze when something needs to be locked down immediately
- Freezing Mark suite — mana sustain, armour break, and an extra shock source on the target before a fight
- Wind Dancer / Ghost Dance / Mana Remnants — defensive utility, energy-shield recovery, and cooldown recovery
Gear & Anointments
The bow is the most important piece: prioritise physical damage, added physical or cold damage, high critical chance, attack speed, and ideally projectile levels or crit-damage bonus. Base crit on the bow matters a lot because Garukhan’s Resolve scales from your overall crit setup. Body armour leans on a high-evasion Hariss-style chest for evasion, extra cold damage, dexterity, and freeze duration; the helmet is a big energy-shield piece that a Subterfuge Mask converts into evasion.
- Quiver — Kadira’s Gambit for mapping fun and Mirage synergy, or a visceral rare with projectile levels, crit, and added damage for pinnacle bossing
- Gloves — flat added elemental or physical damage with attack speed
- Boots — evasion, energy shield, movement speed, deflection, resistances
- Amulet — spirit, projectile levels, energy shield, crit chance/damage, global defences
- Rings — resistances, maximum life, evasion, rarity, added cold/lightning/physical damage
- Charms — Fall of the Axe style for slow immunity and onslaught
Specific unique rolls and any anointments should be confirmed against the source video.
Endgame Notes
Ascendancy is Deadeye (the creator notes Amazon also works). The unlock order is Gathering Winds, then Mirage Deadeye, then Projectile Proximity Specialization, and finally Endless Munitions for the extra projectile. The passive tree leans harder into crit than generic attack damage to feed Garukhan’s Resolve, picks up bow/projectile scaling and Feathered Fletching, and takes defensive nodes for evasion, energy-shield recovery, and Ghost Dance.
