Overview

This is episode two of a budget Blood Mage series that turns a Witch into a spear-wielding Bleed Twister character. It picks up around level 52, at the interlude, when the character respecs out of its campaign setup and into Twister. The core engine is Blood Barbs on the Blood Mage tree. It lets elemental hit damage count toward bleed magnitude. It also aggravates bleeds on cursed enemies, so they deal the moving-target bonus even against a boss that stands still. Bleed Support I and Deep Cuts on Twister make every tornado reliably open a wound.

Damage comes from a two-weapon-set loop. Weapon set one holds the fastest spear you can afford and runs a low-level Whirling Slash, which stacks a whirlwind up to three stages. Weapon set two holds the hardest-hitting spear plus a sceptre and fires Twister. A twister that passes through a fully stacked whirlwind deals far more damage and spawns extra tornadoes. Ice-Tipped Arrows, Barrage fed by Combat Frenzy charges, and War Banner stack more multipliers for bosses.

The main lesson of the video is the build’s “kill switches”. These are quiet failures that shut off your damage without any clear warning. It is a guide to spotting them. Handled correctly, the setup cleared two Arbiter fights for under 10 divines of total investment.

Pros & Cons

Pros

  • Very cheap: two Arbiters were killed with less than 10 divines invested
  • Blood Barbs lets flat elemental damage on rings, boots and gloves feed bleed, so upgrades are easy to find
  • Whirling Slash on a fast spear gives quick map movement, and Herald of Blood plus Herald of Ash chain-explode packs
  • Grasping Wounds spreads 25% of big hits over 4 seconds, which smooths out one-shot moments in the campaign
  • The same rotation works for mapping and bosses, and War Banner is saved for the hard fights

Cons

  • There are several silent kill switches: spirit gem order, the sceptre type, the curse level cap and attribute requirements
  • Sanguimancy means every button also costs life, so Whirling Slash must stay at a low gem level
  • A multi-button rotation (slash ×3 → Twister, plus Ice-Tipped Arrows, Barrage and Banner) that punishes sloppy play
  • Survivability and damage start to fall behind in tier-15 maps, and frenzy charge generation dries up. The creator says this is next episode’s problem

Key Skills

  • Twister — main damage skill on weapon set two, with Bleed Support I and Deep Cuts socketed
  • Whirling Slash — kept at a low gem level on the fastest spear; it builds whirlwind stages that Twister consumes
  • Ice-Tipped Arrows / Barrage — convert Twister hits to cold (chill and freeze build-up) and repeat volleys using frenzy charges
  • Blasphemy + Temporal Chains — a hands-free curse aura that turns on aggravated bleed and makes bleeds expire slowly
  • Combat Frenzy, Herald of Blood, Herald of Ash, War Banner — frenzy charges from freezes, explosions that clear packs, and a burst window for bosses

Gear & Anointments

  • Two spears: the fastest one (sort trade by attacks per second) in set one, and the highest-physical one with flat elemental damage, crit and +projectile levels in set two. One spear locked into both sets is fine at first
  • Shrine sceptre in the set-two off hand. Its purity aura makes spirit-costing supports free. Total spirit use is about 180, which only works while the sceptre is held
  • Put Blasphemy at the top of the spirit gem list, with Combat Frenzy next. The game drops gems from the bottom when you swap to set one
  • Temporal Chains must reach gem level 18 before it curses high-level enemies. If there is no curse icon over their heads, you have lost the aggravation bonus
  • Wake of Destruction boots add lightning damage and leave shocked ground, and Twister gains extra lightning damage when it crosses that ground. Painter’s Servant gloves come early. Later they are swapped for crit-damage gloves, which the creator calls the single biggest damage jump
  • For the Arbiter of Ash wall, the creator crafted a spear for under 5 divines (essence, desecrate, then exalts). The exact crafting steps are in the video description
  • Other gear stacks life, energy shield and resistances, with flat damage on both rings. Always recheck Dexterity after gear swaps, because a lost Dexterity roll silently disables Twister

Endgame Notes

The setup cleared the Arbiter of Ash and the Arbiter of Divinity on a budget. Past that point, tier-15 maps expose weak survivability, slower clear and a loss of frenzy charges. The series moves to a proper endgame version in the next episode. Treat this version as a bridge from the campaign to early maps.
