Overview

This Spirit Walker build is a deliberate counter to the Twister meta of 0.5, pairing Oil Barrage with the Huntress’s projectile-speed ascendancy for a fluid, screen-wide blaster. Oil Barrage remains one of the strongest skills in the patch even after the Nimis-league shake-ups, and it works with a physical weapon, an elemental weapon, or a hybrid — which keeps gearing flexible from the campaign all the way into maps.

The damage engine is crit-driven: because the whole barrage inherits the cast’s crit result, a single critical cast turns every projectile into a crit. The combo loop is built around power charges — spam Devour to maintain charges while mapping, and against bosses switch to a Rend → Pounce → Ailment’s Chime sequence to generate charges reliably, then optionally spend a charge with Rend for bonus lightning damage. Primal Bounty’s projectile speed makes the Spirit Walker’s combo-heavy rhythm feel natural rather than clunky.

It’s pitched as a fantastic league starter that scales smoothly into a crit endgame, with optional high-end support gems for big spenders.

Pros & Cons

Pros

  • Excellent AoE clear and strong single-target — a true one-button screen-wide blaster
  • Flexible scaling: physical, elemental, or hybrid weapons all work
  • Strong from the campaign through endgame; viable as a league starter
  • Doesn’t require expensive investment to get damage online

Cons

  • Screen-cluttering visual noise — FPS can suffer with full projectile stacking
  • Vulnerable while casting; needs Reputation + ward layering to stay safe
  • Power-charge generation against bosses requires a deliberate combo setup
  • Top-end gems (Conviction, Ailment’s Chime) are expensive quality-of-life, not cheap

Key Skills

  • Oil Barrage — the core damage skill; crits as a whole cast, scaled with Fork, Ricochet, Nova Projectiles, and Salvo
  • Rend — boss-fight combo opener and lightning-damage spender
  • Pounce — consumes combo points to generate power charges via Ailment’s Chime
  • Devour — map-clear power-charge generator
  • Reputation — survivability buff during the vulnerable cast window

Gear & Anointments

Use a talisman with high physical damage plus as many elemental-damage-to-attack rolls as possible, and a solid crit rate roll. Rings want elemental damage to attack while still helping cap resistances — push resistances off other slots so the rings stay damage-focused. The rest of the gear stacks resistances and picks up rarity where budget allows. The tree leans on Splitshot/Trickshot for extra projectiles and paths heavily into crit chance and crit damage; a Time-Lost Sapphire near the Stuck Through cluster (with nodes like Dizzying Hits) adds strong crit value. Specific uniques to confirm against the source video.

Endgame Notes

The endgame plan is a transition into a full crit setup, since Oil Barrage scales explosively with crit. Evasion and energy shield provide defensive backbone, and a free shock from Vivid Stampede adds ~25% damage against bosses.
