Overview
This is a work-in-progress “infinite Flicker Strike” build that wears the disguise of a Monk but is actually played on the Mercenary’s Gemling Legionnaire. The whole idea hangs on a new 0.5 Gemling node — Advanced Tempering — which makes gem quality grant socketed skills an additional effect. On Flicker Strike (and Falling Thunder) that effect is a chance to not consume power charges on use, so by stacking quality you can keep flickering across the screen without ever running dry.
Rather than generating charges with the usual Profane Ritual skeletons, the creator builds around power-charge generation through ranged attacks and Suffering Strike, plus Orb of Storms and Ember Fusillade to pre-load charges before a boss. The result is a chaotic, high-crit lightning playstyle that spams Flicker Strike and Falling Thunder to delete packs. It is presented honestly as an in-production, for-fun project rather than a finished, optimised guide.
Pros & Cons
Pros
- Genuinely novel tech — stacks “chance to not remove charges” toward ~89% uptime
- Extremely fun, fast, screen-clearing Flicker Strike playstyle
- Avoids the skeleton/Profane Ritual charge-generation most flicker builds rely on
- Near-100% crit chance through charge-related buffs like Charge Regulation
Cons
- Still in production — defences are weak and the creator admits dying a lot
- Key items (the Kulemak belt, the charge amulet) run into the tens of divines
- Charge management makes it one of the highest-complexity playstyles to pilot
- Passive tree is currently a leftover attribute-stacker layout pending a respec
Key Skills
- Flicker Strike — the main melee teleport-attack, hits once per power charge then rolls to keep them
- Falling Thunder — ranged lightning skill that shares the same not-consume-charge quality tech, set up with Nova projectiles for clear
- Siphoning Strike / Suffering Strike — power-charge generation
- Orb of Storms + Ember Fusillade — pre-load power charges before a boss fight
- Storm Wave — ranged-melee filler that generates rage
Gear & Anointments
The build leans on chance-to-not-remove-charges sources: a Kulemak belt variant holding an idol that grants the effect (amplified 50-100% by the belt’s increased-effect-of-socketed roll), and a corrupted Serpent Ink gold amulet that can roll an extra 10-15% chance plus “gain an additional charge when you gain a charge.” Anoint “gain power charge when you consume elemental infusion” if you cannot reach it on the tree. The creator plans to move to a Herald-armour defensive chest (free heralds of ash/ice/thunder) and a proper crit/lightning tree. Specific best-in-slot items are still being tuned against the source video.
