Overview
This off-meta Stormweaver turns Orb of Storms from a utility spell into the main damage skill by pairing it with the Indigon helmet. Indigon tracks how much mana you spent over the last four seconds and grants a large stack of increased spell damage (plus a smaller stack of increased skill cost) for every 200 mana spent. With roughly 5–6k mana regeneration per second the build can sustain spending in the tens of thousands, which converts into well over a thousand percent increased spell damage and an advertised 10M+ DPS.
Orb of Storms does the actual hitting. Each orb fires a chaining arc when cast, whenever you cast another spell inside it, and periodically on its own, and it auto-targets anything in range. Stormweaver’s orb-limit node, Secrets of the Orb on the tree and Overabundance push the cap to five orbs, so every cast triggers five arcs at once. Frost Bomb on weapon swap supplies Exposure to drag enemy elemental resistance deep into the negatives, which the guide presents as a replacement for the recently nerfed Rakiata’s Flow.
The defining trait is mana management. Indigon blocks every mana recovery source except regeneration, and because costs keep climbing, holding the cast button always ends in a mana lock eventually. The skill is staying in a 50–60% band while mapping and ramping from half to full only for boss burst windows.
Pros & Cons
Pros
- Huge damage ceiling from Indigon once regeneration is stacked
- Orb of Storms auto-aims and covers the screen with enough area of effect
- Frost Bomb Exposure tech outperforms Rakiata’s Flow in most situations, and Stormweaver’s orb limit lets Frost Bomb run more flexible supports
- Mana-before-life layering gives the character real tankiness
- A genuinely unusual, hands-on playstyle
Cons
- Gear-gated: Indigon, Runeseeker’s Call and a very specific ring are all required
- Constant manual throttling of spending; holding the button leads to mana lock
- No mana leech, mana on kill or remnants under Indigon — regeneration only
- Stacking maximum mana too early makes the build worse, which is counterintuitive
Key Skills
- Orb of Storms — main damage; supported by Overabundance, Efficiency, Zenith, a boss-area support and Execute
- Frost Bomb — weapon-swap Exposure source with Spell Echo, Potent Exposure, Magnified Area, Cooldown Recovery and Efficiency
- Archmage — extra mana-based damage, linked with Clarity for a little more regeneration
- Blasphemy (Temporal Chains) — reserved off life instead of Spirit via Atziri’s Communion, alongside Clarity for 50% more regeneration; this also keeps the character on low life for Pain Attunement-style bonuses
Gear & Anointments
Scaling priority is mana regeneration first, cost efficiency second and maximum mana last. Most regeneration comes from gear, and Arcane Surge effect is the only ‘more’ multiplier for regeneration, so increased Arcane Surge effect is mandatory.
- Runeseeker’s Call — the core item, worth more regeneration than whole tree sections; aim for +9 to spell skills and Inspiration runes in every slot
- Indigon — lowest possible increased cost with the highest damage roll
- Cloak of Defiance — the main source of damage taken from mana before life (stacked with Stormweaver’s own mana-before-life)
- Ring — the hardest piece: needs both cost efficiency and increased Arcane Surge effect, plus flat mana, resistances and mana regeneration; duplicate it with Kalandra’s Touch
- Gloves and boots — increased effect of socketed items; Kurgal’s Gaze in the gloves, Inspiration runes in the boots
- Jewels — three corrupted Grand Spectrum (Sapphire) for resistances, Prism of Belief for +3 Orb of Storms, Megalomaniac with Secrets of the Orb; Heart of the Well optional
- Passive tree — Arcane Surge effect clusters, cost efficiency, regeneration, Eldritch Battery and Exposure effect; damage nodes are unnecessary
Endgame Notes
On bosses, pre-cast up to roughly half capacity, drop the Frost Bombs, then hold the cast to ramp to full Indigon value for a short burst. Never sit at 100% spending and never let it fall under about 50%.
