Overview
This is a late-league Gemling Legionnaire mana stacker built around Spark and Archmage, showcased at level 96 in patch 0.5. Rather than scaling spell damage directly, the character pushes maximum mana as high as possible and lets Archmage convert that pool into per-projectile lightning damage. Gemling Legionnaire is the enabler: the ascendancy’s extra projectiles turn Spark from a single stream into a screen-filling swarm, which is why the creator can skip crit-chance investment entirely and still crit reliably.
The setup runs on low life, using Heart of Declaration and Atziri’s Communion to sit under the life threshold and pick up Pain Attunement on the passive tree. A second damage layer comes from Comet, triggered through Custom Critical on the amulet, with Verissimo’s infusions covering elemental infusion gaps so Spark stays infused even when the cold infusion isn’t up. Temporalis and Blink make movement effectively instant, so the character teleports rather than walks.
It is important to frame this correctly: the source video is a character update, not a step-by-step guide. The creator recorded it in response to viewer questions after spending a week farming Simulacrum, so it covers gem links, item choices and tree reasoning at a level aimed at players who already understand mana stacking. It also sits at the very top of the gear curve — a single helmet swap the creator declined to make was valued at roughly 600 divines.
Pros & Cons
Pros
- Enormous single-target output — the creator states pinnacle bosses die in one shot
- Gemling’s extra projectiles remove the need to invest in crit chance at all
- Temporalis plus Blink gives near-instant repositioning across the whole screen
- Verissimo’s infusion generation smooths over missing elemental infusions on Spark
- Resistance requirements are relaxed thanks to Right of Passage with Spirit of the Stag
Cons
- Extremely expensive: Mageblood, Temporalis and a Rune Seeker with +300 maximum mana are baseline, not aspirational
- Resistances are not capped outside of maps, leaving pinnacle fights riskier than they need to be
- Low life adds a layer of setup that has to be kept exact for the build to function
- Several key modifiers are legacy — the focus rolls cast speed above the current post-nerf ceiling and can no longer be obtained
- The source is an update video, so leveling and gearing progression are not covered
Key Skills
- Spark — the main damage skill, corrupted for +1 and pushed to 23 quality, carrying Vile Propulsion, Rakhiata, Zenith and efficiency
- Archmage — converts the stacked mana pool into damage, supported by Atziri’s Communion, Heart of Declaration and Lightning Mastery
- Comet — level 21, cast through Custom Critical from the amulet with Spell Cascade for extra casts
- Mana Remnants / Remnants of Calgury — mana sustain engine, built with Harmonic Remnants and Remnant Potency
- Blink — supported by Wrath of God, the primary movement tool alongside Temporalis
Gear & Anointments
The gear plan is mana-first. A Rune Seeker with six sockets and +300 maximum mana is the anchor, and Ward matters as much as mana — Powered by Verissimo needs at least 177 Ward to function, and Remnants of Calgury depends on it too. Mageblood and Temporalis are both slotted with rarity where possible.
- Body armour — Temporalis for the movement identity; the creator notes a rare chest would actually give more mana and Spark damage
- Amulet — Custom Critical with +4 to all spells, cast speed, mana and spirit
- Gloves — pierce is mandatory here so Spark doesn’t need a pierce support gem, alongside +2 projectiles, projectile damage, projectile speed and crit
- Rings — a Mnemonic ring with cast speed, double mana regeneration, mana cost efficiency and elemental resistance; a rarity ring is a valid swap
- Charm — Right of Passage with Spirit of the Stag for 30% elemental resistance
- Focus — energy shield and mana, with the legacy cast speed roll
On the tree the character runs the standard Gemling ascendancy setup, a Split Personality ruby jewel to start from Source of Trust, jewels rolled for triple crit and spell damage suffixes, and Pain Attunement for the low-life multiplier. Ascendancy points require two extra red gems socketed, which is why two otherwise unused skills sit in the setup.
Endgame Notes
The creator spent the week before recording running Simulacrum almost exclusively, which is a poor experience source but a good indicator of where the build sits. Resistances land capped inside maps because of the charm, but stay uncapped for pinnacle encounters — survivable only because bosses die immediately. Spark tops out around 2.6 million with lightning conflicts active.
