Overview
This is a lightning Monk leveling setup tested start to finish in SSF. It uses only quarterstaff skills plus Frost Bomb and comes together in Act 2, when Stormwave, Siphoning Strike and Falling Thunder are all available. Stormwave applies shock, Siphoning Strike turns shock into power charges and leaps between packs, and Falling Thunder spends those charges for burst.
Hollow Palm Technique removes the need for a good early quarterstaff, which is usually the hardest part of leveling a Monk. It starts to fall behind near the end of the campaign, so swap to any staff with more DPS, ideally with flat lightning damage and +melee skill levels.
Invoker is the recommended ascendancy for leveling because of the shocked-ground node and Outbound Avatar’s elemental damage. Martial Artist also works: take the meridian defensive node first, then Way of the Stone Fist with high flat lightning gloves.
Pros & Cons
Pros
- SSF-proven: no traded items needed
- Very fast pack-to-pack clear once Act 2 skills are online
- Hollow Palm means no early weapon hunt
- Simple rotation for bosses: Frost Bomb, Stormwave, Siphoning Strike, Falling Thunder
Cons
- Act 1 bosses are awkward until Siphoning Strike; Glacial Cascade fills in
- Hollow Palm falls off late in the campaign
- Relies heavily on vendor gear checks for flat damage and +melee levels
Key Skills
- Stormwave — shock applicator and main clear with Siphoning Strike
- Siphoning Strike — converts shock into power charges, gap closer
- Falling Thunder — spends power charges for big hits
- Frost Bomb — exposure before the boss rotation
- Herald of Thunder — extra clear from Act 4 with Magnified Area and Lightning Mastery
Gear & Anointments
Check vendors after every level-up. Priorities: gloves with +1/+2 melee skills and flat lightning, rings with flat damage, life and resistances, and a quarterstaff with flat lightning, physical damage and attack speed. The creator stresses not to neglect life, evasion and resistances while leveling. Campaign picks shown: charm charges in Act 2, mana regeneration in Act 3, resistance tattoos and evasion-as-deflection in Act 4.
