Overview
This is a campaign-first Warrior plan built for the 0.5.5 Ritual mini-event currency reset, where the goal is simply to get through acts one to four and into early maps without melee feeling like a punishment. The route starts on a Rolling Slam into Bone Shatter stun combo, then pivots to Shield Wall the moment the skill unlocks at level 22, and Shield Wall carries the rest of the way.
The Shield Wall phase is the interesting part. Walls are placed in front of the pack, then a cry — Infernal Cry in particular — detonates them all at once. Against bosses the pattern is a Shockwave Totem to hold the target, then as many walls as possible layered in front of it. Because the damage comes out of the shield rather than the weapon, gear pressure is unusually low: the mace slot only really wants plus one to melee skills, while the shield wants raw armour.
It is explicitly a leveling guide with a planned exit. The creator ascends Smith of Kitava through the campaign purely for the resistance-capping convenience, then swaps to Titan and an Earth Shatter setup once early maps are done — the endgame build is a separate video.
Pros & Cons
Pros
- Genuinely cheap: any one-handed mace works, and the shield is judged almost entirely on armour
- Shield Wall plus cry detonation clears whole screens from level 22 onward
- Shockwave Totem plus stacked walls gives campaign bosses a straightforward answer
- Smith of Kitava makes capping resistances during the campaign nearly free
- Well-signposted act-by-act gem progression rather than a single finished loadout
Cons
- Early act one is the usual rough melee experience before the combo comes online
- Ends at early maps by design — this is not an endgame build and you are expected to respec
- Heavy armour means slow movement, so the tree has to spend points ignoring armour movement penalties
- The strongest version needs Hand of Wisdom-tier support gems for fissure walls, which are a farming target rather than a given
Key Skills
- Shield Wall — the main damage dealer from level 22, run with Rapid Attacks, Magnified Area and Fire Attunement
- Bone Shatter — pre-22 stun payoff, following Rolling Slam to trigger the AoE explosion
- Rolling Slam — the stun setup and the main mobility-into-pack tool early
- Infernal Cry — the detonator; cries are what turn placed walls into a screen nuke
- Shockwave Totem — boss anchor, giving you something to stack walls in front of
- Leap Slam — general campaign mobility once available
Gear & Anointments
Gear is deliberately loose. Dual wield until a Forge Maul drops, then run two-handed until the Shield Wall swap; from there a war pick or any one-handed mace is fine. The shield is the real damage item, so prioritise a Tower Shield or anything with a high armour roll.
- Mace — plus one to melee skills if you can get it, otherwise added physical or added lightning damage
- Shield — highest armour available; this is where the build’s damage scales from
- Gloves — plus melee skills, else attack speed and any added elemental damage
- Rings — added damage rolls give the largest early spike, then resistances
- Body armour — resistances plus “armour also applies to elemental damage”
- Early maps — three Thrill Steel runes for Onslaught is called out as a large upgrade
Two support gems are the campaign-exit priority: one that reroutes supported wall skills along a fissure, and one that adds three additional fissures. Together they turn a wall placement into a full-screen detonation.
