Overview
This Gemling Legionnaire grenade build is the endgame follow-up to the creator’s beginner grenade league starter. After moving the starter’s gear over at level 65 and pushing to level 80, the creator wanted more single-target damage and better defences. To get there, they replaced some grenades with Mortar Cannon totems and respecced the passive tree. The result handles T15 maps and kills the Arbiter of Ash on a budget of roughly two Divine Orbs.
The build only needs four ascendancy points, so it can be picked up at level 65. On maps you dodge-roll to summon a Mirage Archer, then throw Cluster Grenade and Explosive Grenade. For bosses, spread out a few Mortar Cannons so a single slam can’t destroy them all, call the Mirage Archer and keep throwing grenades.
Pros & Cons
Pros
- Extremely cheap: about two divines of gear clears T15 and the Arbiter of Ash
- Simple rotation, with no complex trigger setup
- Mortar Cannon totems add the single-target damage the starter version lacked
- Usable from level 65 with only four ascendancy points
- No mandatory jewels; anything useful that drops will do
Cons
- Mortars can be destroyed if placed close together
- Durability still depends on armour and resistances bought to budget
- The Fire Attunement setup can lower damage if your rings and gloves add lots of cold or lightning
- Some weapon-set passive juggling is needed for the extra Ballista totem
Key Skills
- Explosive Grenade — main burst damage, also socketed in Mortar Cannon and Mirage Archer
- Cluster Grenade — map clear, run with cooldown recovery support
- Mortar Cannon — totem-fired grenades for bosses (weapon set 2)
- Mirage Archer — duplicates grenade throws for extra damage
- Arctic Armour — extra armour buff; raise its quality too
Gear & Anointments
Three uniques: Redemption (Trarthan Cannon crossbow), where the cheapest copy works but higher physical damage is better; Constricting Command (Viper Cap), ideally with the roll that lowers the enemy count needed for the surrounded condition; and Lavianga’s Spirits, which automates mana recovery (any normal mana flask is fine instead). Body armour should stack armour and elemental resistances; from level 80 a Warlord-type base with the “armour applies to elemental damage” implicit is recommended. Rings and gloves want added attack damage prefixes plus resistances, the amulet wants +levels to projectile skills, and the creator used a flux crafting currency on gloves to push chaos resistance. Boots can settle for 30% movement speed to save currency. Level all four main skills’ quality.
Endgame Notes
The creator kills the Arbiter of Ash with this setup. Spread out the mortar totems before the fight, and use the second weapon set for the extra Ballista totem passive.
