Overview

This Acolyte of Chayula build pairs an Impending Doom curse engine with the ascendancy’s remnant mechanic to create a build that sustains and clears at the same time. Chayula’s Waking Dream node spawns a remnant every 1.2 seconds; arcane and vigorous remnants restore large chunks of mana and life on pickup, so simply moving through a map keeps both pools topped up. Explosive Transmutation then detonates each remnant as it’s collected, turning that sustain loop into a constant source of area damage.

The damage centerpiece is Elemental Weakness driven through Dodra’s Undoing and Impending Doom. Dodra’s Undoing converts curses into cursed ground capped at two instances, while Impending Doom deals chaos damage whenever a curse is removed. Linking Elemental Weakness with Spell Cascade lays three cursed grounds per cast — the third immediately removes the oldest, triggering an Impending Doom explosion every cast. Because both Dodra’s Undoing and the explosion scale with the level of Elemental Weakness, the whole build is about stacking skill levels: a Sunspire Array buckler (Elemental Weakness carries fire, cold and lightning tags), the reworked Vertex’s +5 to cursed skill levels, pushing Elemental Weakness toward level 40. Original Sin converts all elemental damage to chaos, so every explosion lands as a single, easy-to-scale damage type.

Pros & Cons

Pros

  • Self-sustaining: remnant pickups continuously restore life and mana, very comfortable to play
  • Damage and sustain share one loop — every remnant both heals and explodes
  • Single-damage-type scaling via Original Sin makes gear optimization straightforward
  • Affordable to get running, with a long scaling tail in stacked skill levels
  • Smooth, fast mapping feel

Cons

  • Built around several enabling uniques (Vertex, Sunspire Array buckler, Dodra’s Undoing, Original Sin)
  • Curse-removal trigger timing is mechanically intricate to understand and gear for
  • Single-target is secondary to clear — not pitched as a dedicated boss killer
  • Not a league-starter; depends on the unique payload to function

Key Skills

  • Elemental Weakness — the scaling skill; its level drives both Dodra’s Undoing and Impending Doom
  • Impending Doom — deals chaos damage each time a curse is removed from an enemy
  • Spell Cascade — lays three cursed grounds per cast to force the Impending Doom trigger
  • Explosive Transmutation — detonates collected remnants for clear damage
  • Original Sin — converts all elemental damage to chaos for clean single-type scaling

Gear & Anointments

The priorities are skill-level enablers: a Sunspire Array buckler to feed Elemental Weakness via its elemental tags, the reworked Vertex for +5 cursed skill levels, Dodra’s Undoing to convert curses to capped cursed ground, and Original Sin to unify damage as chaos. Energy shield is the main defensive layer, backstopped by the constant remnant life/mana recovery. Specific rare-item rolls should be confirmed against the source video.

Endgame Notes

The build is framed as budget-friendly to start with plenty of room to scale damage later by pushing Elemental Weakness levels higher; mapping is described as exceptionally smooth thanks to the sustain-plus-explosion loop.
