Overview
Spark Cast on Critical Ritualist is a screen-filling lightning caster that turns crit into a second damage source. Spark provides the projectile coverage, and once crit chance is high enough the Cast on Critical setups start layering Comet and Grim Pillars on top of it without any extra button presses. Archmage then converts mana investment into spell damage, which is what carries the build from ‘flashy’ into genuinely scaling.
The play pattern is deliberately simple: keep casting Spark, keep moving, and let the trigger setups handle the burst. Arc and Ball Lightning fill in behind the first projectile wave and clean up what survives, while Escape Shot exists purely so that nothing ever gets to pin the character down.
The trade-off is that the build needs several stats working together before it clicks. Crit chance drives the triggers, mana sustain drives Archmage, and cast/projectile speed drives the coverage — miss one and the whole engine feels sluggish.
Pros & Cons
Pros
- Exceptional screen coverage — Spark handles clear across the whole arena rather than target by target
- Cast on Critical adds Comet and Grim Pillars damage for free once crit is online
- Archmage gives a clear scaling path through mana investment
- Very high ceiling: the creator rates scaling 5/5
- Fully ranged with a dedicated escape tool, so positioning mistakes are recoverable
Cons
- Needs crit chance, mana sustain, projectile speed, and cast speed together before it feels smooth
- Falls off hard if Cast on Critical is not triggering consistently
- Mana sustain is an active concern during long boss fights
- Heavy visual clutter from constant projectiles and trigger effects
Key Skills
- Spark — main damage and clear, supported with Zenith, Efficiency, and Projectile Acceleration
- Cast on Critical (Comet) — the burst trigger, with Spell Cascade for area coverage
- Cast on Critical (Grim Pillars) — the second trigger, layering area control and spell pressure
- Archmage — the primary scaling tool, converting mana into spell damage
- Mana Remnants / Siphon Elements — the sustain package that keeps the mana engine running
Gear & Anointments
Stat priority is lightning damage, spell damage, critical chance, cast speed, projectile speed, mana, and mana recovery. Mana is doing double duty here — it is both the resource and, through Archmage, a damage stat, so it should not be treated as an afterthought. Arc, Ball Lightning, and the trigger setups fill out the remaining links. The creator discusses supports rather than item bases, so specific uniques and anointments are to be confirmed against the source video.
Endgame Notes
Mapping is rated 5/5 and scaling 5/5, with bossing at 4/5 — the limiting factor on single target is trigger consistency and mana uptime rather than raw damage. The creator’s endgame advice is to never stand still: the build is at its strongest when Spark is covering ground and the crit triggers are firing continuously.
