Overview
This is the Path of Exile 2 take on Summon Raging Spirits, a spirit skill that spawns temporary minions every time you cast a fire spell. Volcano is the summoning trigger of choice thanks to its short cast time, and because Raging Spirits is both a minion skill and a fire skill it scales beautifully with gem levels — cheap uniques like the Fire Flower amulet and Sun Splitter buckler pile on so many levels that the skill can realistically reach its level 40 cap. The spirits rush enemies on their own, ignore collision, and don’t draw aggro, so the moment-to-moment play is about keeping the army topped up rather than aiming.
Defensively it runs a hybrid life/energy shield setup anchored by the Lich ascendancy and Reverie armor, which keeps your life flask permanently active at a reduced recovery rate. Paired with Shavronne’s Revelation that recovery flows into energy shield too, and since Lich lets 15% of incoming damage bypass energy shield, your heavy regeneration is always doing work. The result is a build that shrugs off damage-over-time and chip damage, though it still wants care against big one-shot hits.
Pros & Cons
Pros
- Extremely cheap to start — the core uniques cost very little and add huge damage
- Available from Act 1 and leveled easily all the way to endgame
- Very strong single-target for bosses once the army is up
- Good clear speed from minion splash and explosions
- Massive, always-on regeneration nullifies most damage-over-time
Cons
- You must constantly resummon spirits, including after every death
- Ramp-up time before bosses take full damage
- Lacks meaningful mitigation against large single hits
- Stacking multiple uniques puts heavy strain on your resistances
Key Skills
- Summon Raging Spirits — the main minions; two spawn per fire cast up to a limit
- Volcano — fastest fire spell to trigger your spirits
- Elemental Weakness + Frost Bomb — resistance shred and exposure for damage
- Blasphemy (Temporal Chain / Despair) — curse aura for defense and Unholy Might damage
- Pain Offering — sacrifices skeletons to greatly buff the spirits for boss burst
Gear & Anointments
The scepter is your primary damage source: prioritize minion gem levels, then minion damage and attack speed, and avoid scepters that grant Fulmination. Core uniques are the Fire Flower amulet and Sun Splitter buckler (look for the +3 fire skills variant) for gem levels, plus Reverie body armour and the Chevron Sash belt to solve recovery — none are strictly mandatory but all are very beneficial. Helmet wants minion skill levels; gloves, boots, and rings cover resistances, life, and movement speed, with Breach-crafted rare rings/belt as a high-end damage upgrade. Run a high-recovery life flask and Vision Runes in armour sockets to fuel Reverie. At higher budget the Gemling Legionnaire ascendancy is an alternative that boosts minions via extra quality.
Endgame Notes
Swap minion splash for a proper damage support against pinnacle bosses, and pick up the Rakiata’s Flow gem later to invert enemy resistances instead of shredding them. Use the second weapon set to apply potent exposure and empower your curse, keep Blasphemy active on both weapon sets, and remember to reactivate Raging Spirits after deaths.
