Overview

This Amazon bow build splits its job cleanly in two: Ice Shot handles everything that moves, and Snipe handles everything that matters. Mapping is a one-button affair — Ice Shot covers a wide cone, freezes on impact, and Herald of Ice shatters the frozen mobs into a chain that finishes the screen. There is very little rotation to think about while clearing, which is exactly what makes it comfortable to play for long sessions.

Bosses are where the build changes character. The setup is a deliberate sequence: shock the target, mark it, freeze it, open the burst window, then land one enormous crit. Thunderstorm applies the shock (Ball Lightning fills that role before you can afford the full setup), Freezing Mark and Freezing Salvo push the target to the freeze threshold, Barrage opens the window, and Snipe delivers the payoff. The whole build is engineered around making that single hit land into a shocked, frozen, blinded target.

Amazon is the reason the numbers hold up. Critical Strike converts accuracy into free base crit chance, Penetrate turns weapon accuracy into added physical damage, Predatory Instinct spikes damage against rares and uniques specifically, and Mystic Harvest lets elemental damage feed life leech — which is what keeps a mostly-cold build from feeling fragile in practice.

Pros & Cons

Pros

  • Genuine one-button mapping — Ice Shot plus Herald of Ice clears the screen with no setup
  • One of the highest single-target burst ceilings available, via the shock-freeze-Barrage-Snipe rotation
  • Real progression curve: works with Ball Lightning and ordinary bow gear early, upgrades into Thunderstorm and crit pieces later
  • Amazon converts accuracy into both crit chance and added damage, so a single stat scales two ways
  • Mystic Harvest gives leech from elemental damage, which makes the build feel far safer than its defences suggest

Cons

  • The boss rotation is multi-step and punishing to fumble — this is not a build you press one button on against pinnacles
  • Freeze consistency is gear-gated; the gloves that immobilise at 50% buildup instead of 100% are a large upgrade, not a nicety
  • Wants two quiver swaps (clear versus pinnacle boss), which means managing loadouts
  • Nova Projectiles must be the level-one version — the higher tier adds a cooldown that ruins clear
  • Defences lean on evasion and energy-shield conversion, so the build stays squishy if the helmet and chest bases are wrong

Key Skills

  • Ice Shot — main clear skill; wide cold coverage plus the freeze that feeds Herald of Ice
  • Snipe — the boss killer, built entirely around landing one huge critical strike
  • Freezing Salvo — reaches the freeze threshold on bosses before the Snipe window
  • Thunderstorm — endgame shock applicator; Ball Lightning covers this role early
  • Barrage — opens the burst window on cooldown; runs Cooldown Recovery so it is available more often

Gear & Anointments

The bow is the single most important item. Look for a strong physical base with high accuracy, high critical chance, increased physical damage, flat physical or flat cold damage, and suffixes like projectile levels or onslaught. Accuracy runes are unusually strong here because Amazon scales twice off accuracy.

  • Quivers — Kadira’s Gambit for clearing thanks to its projectile behaviour and screen coverage; swap to a Visceral Quiver for pinnacle bosses with damage with bow skills, projectile speed, plus levels to projectile skills, cold damage to attacks, and crit chance and crit damage to attacks
  • Gloves — the key upgrade is gloves that immobilise enemies at 50% buildup instead of 100%, which dramatically shortens the freeze setup on bosses
  • Rings — flat physical and flat cold damage, increased cold damage, life, resistances, and ideally one source of leech
  • Amulet — spirit, plus levels to projectile skills, and defensive stats (evasion, energy shield, or resistances)
  • Armour — hybrid evasion and energy shield chest with spirit and deflection if possible; helmet wants high energy shield to feed the Subterfuge Mask scaling; boots want movement speed, evasion, energy shield, and resistances
  • Jewels — Heart of the Well with extra cold and lightning, From Nothing near Chaos Inoculation for the boss nodes, and a Time-Lost Emerald for crit damage notables
  • Head Hunter is excellent for mapping but not required

Endgame Notes

Ascendancy order is Critical Strike, then Penetrate, then Predatory Instinct, then Mystic Harvest. The passive tree wants bow damage, cold damage, freeze buildup, crit chance and crit damage, projectile scaling, evasion, and deflection. Because the build does not rely on Rakiata’s Flow in the boss setup, cold penetration and resistance handling matter considerably more than usual. Snow Piercer and the surrounding cold cluster are priorities specifically so Freezing Salvo can reach the freeze threshold fast. Weapon set two is dedicated to Thunderstorm and shock magnitude, so those nodes cost nothing from the main bow damage budget.
