Overview
This build plays the Ranger’s Pathfinder ascendancy as a White Werewolf: pounce into packs, freeze them with Lunar Assault, shred, then detonate the ice fragments with Cross Slash. The core loop is unchanged from other werewolf setups, but Pathfinder adds two things that suit a face-to-face shapeshifter unusually well — immunity to slows and a large pile of extra passive points.
Relentless Pursuit makes movement speed unaffected by slows, which removes one of the werewolf’s biggest weaknesses without the very expensive legacy rune other ascendancies need to get the same effect. The middle damage branch hands out extra passive points and Traveler’s Wisdom, which turns every small attribute node into a 5% increased damage node instead. Attributes are then covered by Morior Invictus sockets, an all-attributes ring and Ingenuity.
Defences come from stacking evasion: Sustainable Practices converts half of evasion rating into elemental damage reduction whether or not a hit is evaded. Deflection, Lucidity (damage taken from mana before life), Grace of the Ancestors and a Sacrifice of Flesh notable that prevents 20% of life loss from hits round it out. The creator ranks it above their Deadeye version — slightly slower, but more consistent and better rounded.
Pros & Cons
Pros
- Speed unaffected by slows for free through Relentless Pursuit
- Traveler’s Wisdom turns small nodes into a large amount of extra damage
- Layered defences: evasion-based elemental reduction, deflection, mana-before-life, 20% hit-loss prevention
- Crit-based Mana Remnants mean mana is a non-issue
- Clearly upgradeable — handles heavily juiced, 200% delirium content on the showcased gear
Cons
- Very hungry for attributes; small nodes are spent on damage so gear has to carry the slack
- Evasion builds can still take spikes when a hit gets through
- Showcased gear includes pricey uniques (Rakiata’s Flow, Morior Invictus); budget versions need penetration on the tree instead
- Berserk requires dedicated life regeneration to sustain
Key Skills
- Werewolf Form (White Werewolf) — the shapeshift that drives the whole kit
- Pounce — gap closer into packs
- Lunar Assault — freezes enemies and creates ice fragments
- Shred — main sustained single-target and clear attack
- Cross Slash — detonates the ice fragments for burst damage
- Berserk — rage-fuelled buff for both damage and defence
Gear & Anointments
The build is evasion plus crit. Helmet, gloves and boots are evasion bases, and the rare jewels also roll evasion. Morior Invictus is the chest for its sockets (+7 to all attributes per socketed rune), resistances and spirit; a rare evasion chest with spirit and attributes is a possible alternative. Attributes also come from an all-attributes ring and Ingenuity.
- Rakiata’s Flow — optional; without it, add elemental penetration on the passive tree
- Undying Hate — grants the Sacrifice of Flesh notable
- Tecrot’s Gaze — 1.5% max life regen per second to offset Berserk, plus Vitality
- Support picks named: Overwhelming Presence (easier freezes), Wind Dancer (more evasion)
- Upgrade paths named by the creator: Mageblood, better rares across every slot
Endgame Notes
The creator tested alternative starts from the Warrior or Sorceress side of the tree and found them worse; the recommendation is to stay on the evasion/crit side. On upgraded gear the build runs heavily juiced maps including 200% delirium.
