Overview
This build turns Ice Nova into a screen-clearing freeze engine on the Chronomancer. The core loop is simple to start but deep to optimise: you walk into a pack, Ice Nova freezes everything around you, rares stop moving and bosses get locked down, and a stack of supporting cold skills deletes the screen in seconds. After the spellcaster buffs in 0.5, the cold-infused version of Ice Nova scales hard, and the new cold and runic spell options give it even more room to grow into a strong endgame template that keeps improving as you upgrade gear.
What makes it stand out is control as much as damage. Freeze is both offence and defence — enemy packs never get to act, and bosses become much easier to read while the Chronomancer layers on extra slow and cooldown utility. Ice Nova carries the clear, Frost Wall and Frost Bomb carry single target, and Snap plus Siphon Elements keep the cold-infusion engine running.
Pros & Cons
Pros
- Huge AoE freeze clears packs the instant you walk in
- Freeze doubles as a defensive layer — locked-down enemies can’t fight back
- Strong, deliberate boss rotation via Frost Wall + Frost Bomb exposure
- Scales smoothly from a budget template into a high-end endgame setup
- Chronomancer adds extra slow and cooldown recovery on top
Cons
- Self-cast and mana-hungry — needs mana cost and regen investment to feel smooth
- Multi-skill rotation (Ice Nova, Frost Wall, Frost Bomb, Snap, Sigil of Power, curses) has a learning curve
- Leans on gear upgrades to hit its ceiling, so early league it is weaker
Key Skills
- Ice Nova (cold-infused) — main clear and freeze, scaled with Magnified Area and Ice Bite
- Frost Wall — primary single-target tool; Spell Cascade makes more walls, cooldown recovery lets you spam it
- Frost Bomb — exposure for tanky rares and bosses
- Cast on Elemental Element → Comet — automated burst explosions on element application
- Snap + Siphon Elements — keep cold infusion on Ice Nova active
- Sigil of Power, Blasphemy (Temporal Chains), Elemental Weakness — curse and buff layer
Gear & Anointments
Focus the passive tree on cold spell damage, crit scaling, exposure effect, mana cost efficiency, and enough defence to stay stable in endgame maps. Weapon-set passives split toward exposure, crit, and cold scaling for the casting set. Specific uniques and anoints to be confirmed against the source video; the creator updates the build link in their description every few days with new additions.
Endgame Notes
The build is pitched as a strong endgame template. For mapping you just move and cast Ice Nova; for bosses you open with Sigil of Power, apply Elemental Weakness and Frost Bomb, then rotate Frost Wall and Ice Nova while keeping curses and exposure up.
