Overview
This updated Stormweaver setup for patch 0.5.5 is a cold caster built around Ice Storm as the single main button. The plan is to paint the ground with overlapping cold storms, curse everything nearby with Elemental Weakness, and keep packs slowed or frozen long before they can reach you. It plays as a zone-control caster rather than a speed-clear build: you drop storms into corridors and clusters, reposition, and let the area damage work.
The Stormweaver ascendancy contributes Elemental Storm as a second damage layer, while Heart of Ice, Sigil of Power and Frost Wall round out the kit with extra cold pressure, a damage window for rares and bosses, and a way to physically block dangerous enemies. Convalescence covers recovery during longer fights. The payoff is a build that feels safe and tactical, and that scales very hard once cold damage, area, cast speed and cooldown recovery are stacked on gear.
Pros & Cons
Pros
- Wide cold area coverage that clears grouped packs safely from range
- Heavy control: slows, freezes and Frost Wall let you dictate the fight
- Elemental Weakness via Blasphemy amplifies all of the cold damage
- Strong damage uptime on bosses when storms are layered with Sigil of Power
- Scales very well with better gear (rated 5/5 for scaling)
Cons
- Damage depends on enemies staying inside your storm zones, so placement matters
- Not as fast as projectile builds when mapping
- Feels sluggish until cast speed and cooldown recovery are online
- League start is only average; the build wants its scaling pieces first
Key Skills
- Ice Storm — main damage and clear, supported by Considered Casting, Elemental Focus, Magnified Area, Verglas and Rapid Casting
- Elemental Storm — Stormweaver ascendancy skill adding a second storm layer, linked with Controlled Destruction, Cooldown Recovery, Cold Mastery and Magnified Area
- Blasphemy + Elemental Weakness — aura curse that makes the cold damage hit harder
- Sigil of Power — casting zone for burst windows on rares and bosses
- Frost Wall — control and panic button to block paths and create space
Gear & Anointments
Prioritise cold damage, spell damage, area of effect, cast speed, cooldown recovery, curse effect and defensive layers. Heart of Ice is granted by an item and is part of the core damage package, so plan to pick up the item that grants it. Convalescence (with Second Wind and Cooldown Recovery supports) provides recovery. Specific uniques and anointments beyond these are to be confirmed against the source video and its linked PoB.
Endgame Notes
On bosses, keep Ice Storm active, stack Elemental Storm and Sigil of Power for damage windows, and avoid standing still too long. Against rares, layer storms and fall back on Frost Wall when enemies close the gap. The build is at its best once Ice Storm uptime, cold scaling, curse pressure and Frost Wall control are all working together.
