Strategy
This guide covers farming Delirium in 0.5 — both for the rare liquid emotions that sell for currency and for the amulet instillments that grant powers you can’t get anywhere else (like allocating Storm Breaker). Delirium drops liquid emotions you infuse onto amulets, and chasing the rare ones is the money angle: Isolation runs around 10 divines, Suffering around 3, and splinters are popular sellers too.
It is a high-difficulty mechanic because Delirium scales monster power the deeper you push — enemies gain reduced damage taken and start shrugging off your damage near the boss. That deeper, beefier territory is also where the best loot lives, so the strategy is about pushing as far as your build safely allows, then backing off before the fog depletes.
Atlas Tree & Setup
Reach Wizard Willow via the left side of Ziggurat Refuge, complete the quest to unlock the Counter of Madness (where you instil amulets and combine emotions), and unlock the nearby Assembly (needs wound tier six to attempt). Maps with the Delirium icon grant Delirium Atlas points — but the creator cautions against over-investing the tree until your build is strong enough to survive the scaling. Use a reforging bench to combine three same-tier emotions up the tier ladder, and check instillment recipes with an online instilling calculator before committing premium emotions.
Investment & Returns
- Investment: mid — needs a capable build and some Atlas investment; entry itself is cheap
- Returns: mid — rare liquid emotions (Isolation ~10 div, Suffering ~3 div), splinters, and rare Mirror-of-Delirium amulets that allocate two random passives
- Scales with how deep into the fog you can safely clear
Step-by-step
- Travel to Wizard Willow (left of Ziggurat Refuge) and complete the quest to unlock the Counter of Madness
- Optionally clear the map first, reach the map boss without killing it, then activate the Delirium mirror and kill the now-delirious boss (the creator’s ‘cheat code’ for an easier encounter)
- Follow the fog toward the boss using the on-screen compass diamond; chase the special purple rare monsters and mirrors for the best drops
- Bank liquid emotions; combine three-of-a-kind at the reforging bench to climb tiers
- Instil amulets only after checking recipes in an instilling calculator
Risks
- Monsters gain reduced damage taken and big stat boosts the deeper you go — undergeared builds stall out
- Some delirious monsters are invisible and can be deadly
- Losing the fog for ~5 seconds ends the encounter and stops extra-monster drops
- Don’t over-commit Atlas points until your build can actually handle deep Delirium
