Strategy

Breach became one of the strongest farms in 0.5.5 because of the new Viridian Wildwood. Placing a Sacred Bloom on the Atlas gives the chosen map and every unrun connected map a Wildwood, and its wisps empower the map’s monsters. Yellow wisps add extra modifiers to rare monsters, purple wisps add rarity, blue ones make normal monsters magic, and Sacred wisps do all three plus a chance to turn monsters into bosses. Breach spawns a huge number of rares, so the yellow-wisp effect multiplies with it: plenty of divines without setting up 200% Delirium.

On top of map drops, the setup farms catalysts (Reaver and Sibilant are the valuable ones), Breach splinters, Essence of the Breach (about 1.25 to 1.5 divines each) and the Breach trees, which occasionally hand out large jackpots. The creator rates it close to Abyss and Expedition.

Atlas Tree & Setup

  • Breach tree: Essence Transference (essences near breaches can become Essence of the Breach), Moment of Risk (more rares on stabilise), higher-level Womb Gift chance, Shape the Chains on effectiveness of rare breach monsters. The hive-focused middle section is lowest priority.
  • Main tree: essence nodes (Ruin, Opulence, Overlord’s Domain, additional essences) and Corrupted Lattice Duplication (corrupted essence monsters have a 25% chance to be duplicated). Keep Exalted, Alchemy and Vaal Orbs in your bag to add essences and corrupt essence monsters.
  • Waystones: 8-mod maps, city maps where possible.
  • Master: Doryani, since his bonuses scale with the number of explicit mods. Jado can be better with four excellent tablets.
  • Tablets: “two additional rare monsters when stabilised” on every tablet, plus effectiveness of rare breach monsters and item rarity. Corrupt good bases with Ancient Infusers to push them to five mods.

Investment & Returns

  • Investment: mid. 8-mod waystones, decent tablets and a steady supply of Sacred Blooms.
  • Returns: high. Raw divines, catalysts, Essences of the Breach and occasional tree jackpots (one Womb Gift session gave roughly 18 divines in catalysts).
  • Scaling: better tablets and more city maps.

Step-by-step

  1. Pick a city map with several unrun connections and place a Sacred Bloom on it. It cannot target Delirium fog areas or maps you have already run.
  2. Enter the Wildwood first and collect as many wisps as possible (roughly 3,000 to 7,000 in a decent run).
  3. Clear the map and open every breach. Once the breach stabilises, clear the outside, then kill the rares in the middle. Only about five breach rares are active at once now.
  4. Vaal essence monsters for the duplication chance, and add essences to them with Exalted Orbs.
  5. Spend Hive Blood and Womb Gifts on the trees. The creator goes for jewel catalysts on the currency tree and blocks the low-value Adaptive-type catalysts.

Risks

  • The Wildwood is slower to run than in PoE1, which costs map time.
  • Jewellery Womb Gifts are mostly low value. The currency tree is the reliable part.
  • Vaaling an essence monster can occasionally reroll Essence of the Breach into a worthless one.
  • Prices such as ~2 divines per Breachstone and ~4.5 divines per refined catalyst were quoted at the time of recording and will shift.
