Strategy

This is a mid-budget Grand (Heist) Expedition farm that deliberately skips the most expensive multiplier so you can run it without Alidor’s Saga on most maps. Expedition is one of the strongest currency mechanics in PoE2 right now, and the payoff comes from maximizing variation remnants and the runic modifiers rolled across them — more remnants and more modifiers mean more loot per Grand Expedition.

The key skills are reading logbook rumors, prioritizing the right map layouts, and rerolling variation runes toward the ones that actually multiply value. Because it is mid-budget, it stays accessible while still producing strong Divine-per-hour returns.

Atlas Tree & Setup

Maps are T15 with eight mods, aiming for at least 50% item rarity plus some monster rarity and effectiveness. Use three Loaded tablets (the only tablet type usable on Expedition), looking for increased monster count and increased effectiveness.

On the Expedition passive tree, take Remnants, Explosive (wait for 50% of monsters slain to speed clears — or the runic-spawn-with-20%-life node if your build is weaker), 100% chance for additional variation remnants, 25% chance for variation remnants to be affected by Power Runes, 25% chance to add an additional runic modifier, and Desert (for effectiveness, pack size, and rare-monster modifiers/double-effectiveness). Master is Jadao: Unexpected Missions (eight-mod maps are corrupted → extra random modifier), Eastern Knowledge for better variation remnants (mandatory), Partial Translations for 0–40% tablet effect, and Keen Appraisal for exceptional bases.

Investment & Returns

  • Investment: mid — T15 eight-mod maps, three Loaded tablets, no mandatory Alidor’s Saga
  • Returns: high — the creator targets strong Divine-per-hour output from remnant and runic-modifier stacking
  • Scales up sharply on Expedition areas that contain five to eight logbooks — those are where Alidor’s Saga is worth deploying

Step-by-step

  1. Roll T15 eight-mod maps with ~50%+ item rarity and run three Loaded tablets.
  2. Set the Expedition tree (Remnants, Explosive, additional variation remnants, Power Rune chance, additional runic modifier, Desert) and run Jadao.
  3. Hover expedition icons to read iron rumors; always click logbooks showing a Fallen Star (guarantees More Fallen Skies — eight-socket variation remnants, source of Alidor’s Saga and Perfect Flux).
  4. Prioritize strong layouts: Cold as Ice (Frigid Bluff), Sulphite (Sulphite Grotto), Endless Cliffs (Crystalline Peninsula); avoid Unknown Ruins, Something Fishy, and Itra’s Gully.
  5. Check variations — the runes inside the yellow circle apply to all remnants; prioritize Opulent and Time, then Power/Bone/Death and the River rune. Reroll poor runes with liquid variations (you cannot stack duplicates).
  6. Save Alidor’s Saga for the biggest multi-logbook areas.

Risks

  • Finding how many Grand Expeditions an area contains is tedious (drop/re-drop the logbook to reveal more rumors)
  • Layout RNG matters — bad layouts like Gully are mazes that slow you down
  • Returns depend on rune and remnant RNG; individual maps can underperform
