Strategy

Every farming plan has “travel” maps — the filler maps you pass through on the way to the nodes you actually care about, such as boss-fragment maps, lineage-support farms or corrupted areas you want to cleanse. This guide argues that Delirium is the best way to make those in-between maps pay. It is fast, far less punishing in PoE2 than its PoE1 reputation suggests, and it pays out on its own through Simulacrum Splinters, liquid emotions and extra item quantity from delirious monsters.

The loop is simple: slot Delirium tablets, sprint through the map, kill the boss and move on. When a Grand Mirror appears nearby, run that map to fight two bosses at once, and in return place a large patch of Delirium fog on the Atlas. Every map inside it becomes permanently delirious (starting at 10% and climbing as you kill, up to 200%), which turns it into a heavily juiced zone for other mechanics without needing Delirium tablets there.

It suits anyone who wants steady self-sustaining currency while travelling across the Atlas, and it doubles as a juicing layer for whatever other strategy you run inside the fog.

Atlas Tree & Setup

  • Delirium tree: take essentially every point. The only real keystone choice is Recurring Nightmares — pick the option that spreads Grand Mirror fog to four extra maps rather than faster deliriousness stacking. The liquid-emotion node that raises Ancient drops is still worth taking after its fix.
  • Prioritise effectiveness nodes and summoning circles (unique beast/construct bosses can drop multi-divine emotions); take the Azmeri-spirit node so spirits inside the fog manifest Fracturing Mirrors.
  • Waystones: roll to six mods and corrupt; any combination of pack size, rarity or effectiveness is fine. Run everything that doesn’t brick below tier 14.
  • Master: Doryani (upper-left setup, Evolutionary Pressure, Irradiated, Improved Calibration) when your maps roll well; Jado (unexpected translations, Long Days, Keen Appraisal) when your tablets are better than your maps.
  • Tablet prefixes: effectiveness, item rarity, rare monsters, monster rarity. Suffixes: Simulacrum Splinter stack size, Fracturing Mirrors, Mirror Shards, and higher chance of unique bosses (Kosis and Omniphobia drop lots of splinters). Corrupting to five mods is worthwhile.

Investment & Returns

  • Investment: low — self-farm and roll your own tablets; buying tablets is not recommended
  • Returns: mid — roughly 150–200 splinters on a good linear full-clear map (a full Simulacrum ≈ 2.8 div at recording), plus liquid emotions and raw divine drops
  • Scales with tablet quality, Grand Mirror frequency and how juiced the fogged areas become

Step-by-step

  1. Allocate the Delirium atlas tree, choosing the four-extra-maps Recurring Nightmares option.
  2. Roll waystones to six mods, corrupt, and pick Doryani or Jado depending on whether maps or tablets are stronger.
  3. Slot Delirium tablets with rarity/effectiveness prefixes and splinter/mirror/unique-boss suffixes.
  4. Clear quickly toward the boss; don’t chase low-value detours.
  5. When a Grand Mirror map appears, run it, kill both bosses and place the fog over cleansed maps or other high-value nodes.
  6. Run other mechanics inside the permanent fog, and sell Simulacrum Splinters and emotions (or run Simulacrums if you want the gamble).

Risks

  • Splinter yield swings wildly — a bad map can give fewer than ten
  • Delirium tablets drop less often than Expedition tablets, so perfect tablets take time
  • Simulacrums themselves are a high-variance jackpot rather than a steady income
  • Emotion and splinter prices move; check the market before committing
