Strategy

Expedition has been buffed across patches 0.5.1–0.5.3 and, with the Aldur’s Saga / Aldur’s Legacy rewards added this league, it has become one of the most profitable and cheapest farming strategies in PoE 2 0.5. The core idea is to run Irradiated tablets rolled with high increased item rarity (and optionally monster effectiveness), which boosts both the loot from maps and the number of remnants — and therefore runes — you get from each Expedition lockbox.

The big targets are the Aldur’s Saga and Aldur’s Legacy quest items: they grant permanent rewards (extra life/mana, +10% maximum spirit, elemental resistance, even additional passive skill points), so the creator treats hunting and activating them as the season-long goal. On top of that, Olroth’s-style boons and the Adaga/Shaga rewards have spiked in price (Shaga selling for ~36 Divine), making the strat lucrative right now.

Atlas Tree & Setup

The tablets are self-craftable and effectively free — combine Irradiated tablets at the reforging bench and roll for item rarity plus monster effectiveness (rarity matters most; effectiveness adds loot quantity from kills). Map-device master should be Jayto for Virgin Remnants (reroll-and-keep-best), Partial Translation and the increased-rarity/effectiveness mods. Run a Shaga whenever possible — it guarantees a higher minimum rune-slot count on remnants in the map. Specific atlas-passive picks to confirm against the source video.

When reading lockbox rumours, dodge unique-map and boss-encounter rumours (those are just a boss fight, not a real Expedition). Favour endless-cliff / high-tier sites that show three good remnants. Aim for 5–7 rune-slot remnants: 5 reliably drops Divine/Chaos orbs, 6 is excellent, 7 adds Shaga — while 8 is notoriously bad and only 9–10 beat 7.

Investment & Returns

  • Investment: low — Irradiated tablets are self-made and cost almost nothing
  • Returns: high — ~50 Divine/hour without Shaga, ~100+ with Shaga drops, and an Aldur’s Legacy can be worth a fortune
  • Even “useless” Expedition chests reliably drop Exalted/Chaos and 2–3 Divine orbs per map

Step-by-step

  1. Craft Irradiated tablets at the reforging bench, rolling item rarity (+ monster effectiveness).
  2. Enter the map and read the lockbox rumours — skip unique-map / boss-encounter sites, take three-good-remnant sites.
  3. Pick your line: chase the best remnant (5–7 runes), stack modifiers remnant-to-remnant, or just rush the Expedition/chaos chests for orbs and leave.
  4. Transfer the best mods (rare monster, revive, double loot) forward through the remnant chain via the yellow-crown icons.
  5. Use Shaga on good sites to guarantee higher rune-slot counts; open Aldur’s Legacy only on strong sites like Foreign Skies.
  6. On normal in-between maps, run Grand Mirror Delirium and bomb the red-flag rares for lockbooks (~1 Divine each).

Risks

  • Reward quality is still RNG — 8-rune remnants are a known trap despite the high number
  • Aldur’s Legacy drop chance is low; the bulk of profit is steady orb income, not jackpots
  • Wants a high-mobility build (the creator uses a fast Blink setup) to chain sites efficiently
  • Prices on Shaga/boons are league-timing dependent and may fall as supply rises
