Strategy
With patch 0.5.4, Expedition received a second buff in a single week and now stands out as the most rewarding mechanic in Runes of Aldur. The headline addition is a dedicated Expedition Atlas passive tree, alongside a new currency (Liquid Verissium) that rerolls any remnant encounter instantly, and bonus map mods on Grand Expeditions. The result is a farm that consistently produces 3–7 divines per Grand Expedition plus a steady stream of high-level bases, perfect Chaos/Exalts, and rare jackpots like Aldor Saga and the Aldor’s Legacy.
This guide is for players who already understand the basics of running Expeditions and want to specialise their Atlas tree and map setup to maximise currency per hour. The core loop is to chain Grand Expeditions in the ocean section of the Atlas while running fast Delirium farms on the travel maps in between.
Atlas Tree & Setup
The 24 Expedition Atlas points are unlocked simply by killing the Grand Expedition campaign bosses out in the Sea of Reiklast — if you have already cleared them you can claim most points for free. Recommended priorities:
- Feeling Lucky — first pick; unlocks buying Liquid Verissium from Pharaoh (600 Verissium each), turning your overflow Verissium into reroll fuel.
- Biome mastery — set your ocean/island areas to Desert (effectiveness + quantity + double rare-monster chance) or Grass (effectiveness). This applies to every travel node, not just Grand Expeditions.
- Strategic Advantage keystone — only half the monsters need to die before the explosive chain continues; faster, and it prevents unkillable-spawn bricks.
- Power Rune chance — 25% chance for the final remnant to count as Power-affected; this is what makes the end of a chain explode with loot. Prefer it over the flat quantity-per-mod option.
- Log book quantity — the buried +60% expedition log book lead is excellent; log book drops are noticeably up since the patch.
- Take the extra explosive over the extra remnant (reachability matters more than another remnant), and grab +1 area level / up to 3 mods on Grand Expeditions.
Investment & Returns
- Investment: mid — cheap irradiated tablets, Delirium tablets, and Atlas points. Returns: high, ~3–7 div per Grand Expedition with frequent 100+ div items. Scales hard with monster rarity now that rare-monster chance correctly scales with increased rarity.
Step-by-step
- Unlock the Expedition Atlas tree by clearing the Grand Expedition bosses; spend points per the priorities above.
- On Grand Expedition maps, run irradiated tablets rolled for the four prefixes that matter: increased effectiveness, item rarity, rare monsters, and monster rarity.
- On the travel maps between Grand Expeditions, slap down full Delirium (increased Simulacrum stack size + mirror shard/fragment juice) and blast through fast — but always stop to do the Expedition.
- Master setup: Jado unexpected missions for extra mods, Eastern Knowledge for remnant rerolls, Partial Translations (~+20% avg to tablet rewards), Keen Appraisal as a filler.
- Keep Liquid Verissium on hand to one-click reroll bad remnants on the fly.
Risks
- Requires a reasonably strong build — added runic modifiers and 200% Delirium make monsters tanky and dangerous.
- Buried Ambition (Verissium sentries) felt inconsistent in early testing; don’t over-invest expecting reliable value.
- Power Rune chance is pure risk/reward — it can spike difficulty on a bad roll.
