Strategy
This method farms Vaal temple currency in normal maps instead of in the Temple. The idea is to use the Temple tablets that pile up while mapping. Rare Vaal Beacon chests and unique Vaal Beacon monsters can both drop temple currency. Because few players ran the Temple in 0.5, some of these items sold well. The best ones were the Catalysing Infuser (close to 2 divines), Architect’s Orb, Crystallised Corruption and Vaal Cultivation Orb. Armourer’s and Blacksmith’s Infusers were decent. Arcanist’s Infusers, Vaal Siphoners and Core Destabilisers weren’t worth much.
City maps are the target because an atlas node lets them hold four tablets. The creator presents this as extra income while you collect crystals and beacons for the Temple or an Atziri run. They say directly that it is not better than Delirium, Abyss or Breach farming. The video title says the method was nerfed in patch 0.5.3, so expect lower returns than the video shows.
Atlas Tree & Setup
- Atlas tree: you need two points to reach the node that lets Beacon chests and unique Beacon monsters drop temple currency, plus Industrial Improvements for four tablets in city maps. A bit of monster effectiveness helps too
- Tablets: four Temple tablets, each with both suffixes: chance to add a Vaal Beacon unique monster and increased chance for rare Vaal Beacon chests. Monster effectiveness, monster rarity and item rarity on the tablets are a bonus. If prices go up, prioritise the unique-monster modifier, because the rare-chest one did little
- Jado: Unexpected Missions (turns corrupted city maps into random maps), Trove Seekers, and Partial Translations for higher tablet effect. The last slot is flexible
- Maps: rare, six-mod city maps near citadels. Roll them with Chaos Orbs under an Omen of Chaotic Quantity to keep pack size off, aiming for item rarity, monster rarity and monster effectiveness. Then corrupt them with a Vaal Orb
Investment & Returns
- Investment: low. About 1.5–2 divines per 10 maps. Tablets with both modifiers cost about 40 exalted at the time
- Returns: low. Extra income, not a main farm. In the example map, one temple item worth about 50 exalted dropped, along with a Perfect Jeweller’s Orb and an Orb of Annulment
- Scaling: faster characters do better because you need to reveal the whole map to find every unique monster
Step-by-step
- Take the temple-currency drop node and Industrial Improvements on the atlas
- Set up Jado with Unexpected Missions, Trove Seekers and Partial Translations
- Roll rare city maps under the Chaotic Quantity omen, then corrupt them
- Put four Temple tablets with the Beacon unique and rare-chest modifiers in each map
- Clear the whole map, do all four Vaal Beacons, kill every unique Vaal monster, then kill the boss and move on
Risks
- Nerfed in 0.5.3: the drop rates in the video are from before the nerf
- Drops are inconsistent. Many unique Beacon monsters drop nothing
- Several temple items are close to worthless, and only a few of the drops are worth much
- The creator rates this below the main Delirium, Abyss and Breach strategies, so it is best used as side income while preparing for the Temple
