Strategy
Abyss farming has settled into one of the more stable currency strategies of the league. The core idea is to scatter abysses through your maps, then convert the monsters and chests they spawn into currency by stacking item rarity — because most of your profit comes from chests, rarity that affects items found is far more valuable here than monster effectiveness, which only buffs the abyss monsters.
This guide covers three escalating setups: a cheap Ulaman-focused version that prints basic currency from chests, a mid-tier Amanamus version that leans on rare monsters, and a high-end city-based setup that pairs four tablets with Delirium for the biggest payouts. Start cheap, learn the rhythm, and scale investment only once your build can handle the harder, denser maps.
Atlas Tree & Setup
For the cheap Ulaman setup, set Balance of Power to Ulaman with Omens, take Wild Treasure and Abyss-scatter nodes, and grab every Rogue Exile passive you can — the goal is to maximise Rogue Exiles and strongbox/chest rarity. Water mastery (chests contain 15% increased currency in water areas) is a strong, cheap pick; make your cities water biomes too. For the Amanamus and high-end setups, swap to Amanamus, add Nemesis Rising for extra rare monsters, and prioritise additional rares spawned from abysses. Masters: Jado (partial translations to double tablet modifiers, plus unexpected missions) is the default; Doryani is a viable second option for the mid setup via per-modifier effectiveness and cleansed/corrupted areas.
Investment & Returns
- Investment: low to high (cheap tablets ~1-2 div each up to 5-7 div modifier tablets) · Returns: scales from steady currency to potentially divine-printing in the juiced city setup · Yield scales with tablet quality, item rarity on waystones (aim 25%+), and Delirium depth
Step-by-step
- Cheap (Ulaman): Run basic abyssal tablets — one with “beasts/abyss twice as likely to have rewards” (near-free), the rest with item rarity. Add “additional Rogue Exiles” and “map contains additional abyss” if cheap. Waystones: prioritise item rarity (25%+), not monster rarity.
- Mid (Amanamus): Move rares out of the smoke cloud before killing them. Stack additional rares from abysses (ideally two), monster rarity tablets, and keep one free “twice as likely rewards” tablet. Corrupt waystones for the Jado mission bonus.
- High-end (City + Delirium): Run in a city for four tablet slots. Use “map has two additional random modifiers” tablets, abyssal effectiveness-per-closed-pit, and “four additional abysses”. Spawn Delirium across city tiles with a Grand Mirror. Jado is mandatory here for the doubled tablet effect.
Risks
- The high-end setup demands a strong build — high Delirium and effectiveness-per-pit make maps significantly harder, and dying erases the investment
- Expensive modifier tablets (5-7 div) can eat your profit if your clear is too slow to capitalise
- Always check the market before buying tablets; prices and the best biomes shift through the league
