Strategy
This is the maximum-investment version of Expedition farming in 0.5.5: roughly 60 divines of tablets are committed up front in exchange for a heavily juiced Expedition encounter that showers rare currency and gear. The engine behind it is stacked rarity and monster-modifier effect — three premium Expedition tablets, a self-crafted Waystone, and an Atlas tree tuned to push item quantity and monster power as high as the build can survive.
The creator is blunt about the trade-off: Expedition is already profitable without any of this, so the only reason to run the expensive version is to squeeze out the last few divines per map. Tablets alone eat most of the budget — around 15–20 divines each at the time of recording, and prices had already drifted upward — so this is a method for players sitting on a large stockpile who want to convert it into throughput, not a way to build a stack from nothing.
It is also a build check. With monster modifier effect landing near 174% on a six-mod Waystone, the packs hit like pinnacle content, and a single death ends the map with the tablets already spent. If you cannot comfortably clear the hardest juiced maps you run today, run the cheaper Expedition setup instead.
Atlas Tree & Setup
Tablets (the main cost). Look for three Expedition tablets that carry all three of: increased rarity, increased monster modifier effect, and “map has 2 additional random modifiers”. All three lines matter — the two extra map mods are what push the encounter’s difficulty and reward ceiling together. Expect 15–20 divines per tablet.
Waystone. Craft rather than buy. Take an identified Waystone, fill it to its maximum modifier count, then apply the Ritual-sourced currencies for increased rarity, increased quantity and increased monster modifier effect — one each — activate everything and finish the craft. The single most important stat is monster modifier effect; take the highest roll you can stomach. (Exact currency names should be confirmed against the source video; the Japanese VO abbreviates them.)
Atlas passives (Expedition cluster).
- Calculated Investment — first option
- Territorial expansion — first option
- The duplication/markup node — first option
- Regional exploration — the desert branch (sixth option), chosen specifically because desert raises item quantity and monster modifier effect
- Steady development — the explosives branch
- Strategic advantage — second option (the creator notes the first option is stronger if you trust your damage)
Atlas master / vendor specialisation. The creator takes the Expedition vendor branch with Regulated Entry, Knowledge of the Same, Partial Translation and Keen Appraisal, calling the knowledge node the standout. Node names are translated from the Japanese VO — confirm the exact wording in-game.
Investment & Returns
- Investment: high — roughly 45–60 divines of tablets per setup, plus Waystone crafting materials.
- Returns: high — around 4–5 divines of raw currency per map on average, more once unidentified gear in the stash is sold, and up to ~10 divines on a lucky map.
- Scaling: the method breaks even on tablets at roughly 20 divines each provided you clear every map without dying. Deaths, not drop luck, are what turn this unprofitable. Upside scales with build power, because the safe play is to take the highest monster-effect rolls available.
Step-by-step
- Buy three Expedition tablets carrying rarity + monster modifier effect + 2 additional random map modifiers.
- Craft a Waystone: identify, fill to max modifiers, then apply the rarity / quantity / monster-effect Ritual currencies and complete the craft. Prioritise monster modifier effect.
- Allocate the Expedition Atlas passives listed above, taking the desert branch and the explosives branch, and set the vendor specialisation.
- Open the map and place the explosives. Remember that runes on a detonated remnant carry forward into the remnants that follow, so modifiers accumulate chain by chain.
- Sequence the chain so the remnant with the most runes — ideally one carrying the wealth/rarity rune — is detonated last. That single ordering decision is the largest swing in rare drops.
- Reroll a dead-end remnant with Liquid Beryllium if you need to, but note it locks that remnant’s outcome and removes further choice.
- Open Chaos Orb chests along the way when you have the spare explosives budget.
- Fight the final wave with full attention — it is dramatically stronger than everything before it.
Risks
- One death ends the map. A six-mod Waystone gives a single portal’s worth of margin, and the tablets are already spent when you die.
- Extreme monster power. Around 174% monster modifier effect means huge attack speed and durability, plus mana-drain mods that can strand a caster mid-fight.
- Tablet prices move. They were already climbing during recording; at a high enough price the method stops breaking even.
- Sorting remnants is slow. Inspecting every remnant for the best rune chain costs real time per map; skipping the inspection is fine and still profitable, just lower EV.
