Strategy
Ritual is one of the most beginner-friendly currency mechanics in PoE 2 0.5 because it costs almost nothing to engage with — you simply run maps, clear ritual altars, and spend the tribute you earn before you leave. The draw is the reward pool: altars can offer high-value uniques such as Headhunter and Mageblood, plus profitable omens like the Whiterling, and the boss loop (Bodark / King of the Mist) hands out extra Atlas points for cheap progression.
The key thing to understand is that tribute and unfound items do not carry between maps. Whatever tribute a map’s ritual gives you is all you have to spend there, and any item you don’t buy or defer is gone forever. Deferring pays a small percentage to lock an item in and lowers its price next time you see it — that’s how you eventually afford the chase uniques.
Atlas Tree & Setup
Ritual altars appear inside maps once you’ve taken ritual Atlas points; tablets and notable nodes increase how many altars and rerolls you get. A smooth priority order from the source video: Increase Tribute (first three small points, +15% tribute) → Tempting Offers (extra reroll) → Magnanimous Offerings (chance for a free reroll) → Patient Devotion (see deferred items more often) → Prayer and Pledge (10% of spent tribute feeds Audience with the King) → Reborn in Shadow (juices monsters for more loot and tribute). Because most points can’t be refunded once locked, choose carefully; confirm exact node names against the source video.
Investment & Returns
- Investment: low — no mandatory tablets, you just run any maps with ritual on the Atlas
- Returns: mid — steady omen/unique income, with rare big hits (Headhunter/Mageblood) and Atlas points from repeat Bodark kills
- Scales with: tribute and reroll nodes, plus how many altars you can fit per map
Step-by-step
- Take ritual Atlas points and run maps that contain ritual altars.
- Clear each altar’s monsters to bank tribute, then spend it that same map — buy omens/uniques, or defer items you can’t afford to lock and discount them.
- Progress Audience with the King (via sacrifice, tribute, or buying it) to unlock the Crux of Nothingness and fight the King of the Mist for the Head of the King.
- Place quest items on the effigy at the hideout, select five ritual maps, run them, and return to fight the Bodark pinnacle boss (unlimited tries, normal difficulty).
- Repeat Bodark for fast, repeatable Atlas points — or buy Call of the Shadows / Head of the King from the exchange to skip straight to the fight.
Risks
- Tribute and items are map-local — fail to spend or defer and you lose them permanently.
- Most Atlas points cannot be refunded once locked, so a misclick wastes progression.
- The big-ticket uniques are rare; day-to-day income is the omen and deferred-item churn, not a guaranteed Headhunter.
